Intricate indeed. One of those artistic collaborations where you know they've chosen exactly the right name. Their sound is is a little hard to pin down, IDM for sure but often breaking out into sweat filled dance floor techno or perhaps lulling you into ambient melodies, but always intricate. A sound is never wasted with these guys. You know how sometimes you can hear a track and there's really no need for that little extra drum beat or that extra synth, well never with intricate. They sound as if every tiny sound has been thought out for months and added just where it's needed. I'm no doubt completely wrong, as is the way with brilliance, they probably piece these tracks together in no time at all, but it certainly sounds as if they took their time. Some of their tracks start off down beat and reassuring yet a few minutes later the same track has you wishing you were hearing it live and dancing like a mad man. For me Intricate are one of the best electronic acts around at the moment, they've produced tracks such as 'Efforts' which for me describes the whole IDM home listening movement in one track, and yet hint at dance floor brilliance too. I say 'hint at' as I'm yet to see them live, but i will....i surely will.
