Album MaDRUGADA
MaDRUGADA distills the essence of the more than 40 yearlong musical life of bassist and composer Felix Baigon, who began his career mastering the instrument in a self-taught way and then began playing with friends in bars, nightclubs and university festivals. The first track, Galope, starts the same way some of his compositions were born, a fingering of the guitar; then the bass and the other instruments join in. Throughout the album, his musical experiences show through: the seasons spent in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo; the various returns to Maceió, his hometown; the freedom to improvise. The compositions, some of which come from handwritten scores, which have been polished over the years, gain strength when Felix Baigon meets Everaldo Borges (saxophone), Ricardo Lopes (guitar), Juliano Gomes (piano) and Ítalo Vinícius (drums). The different musical references, a result of sharing the stage with renowned national artists and of producing works by Alagoan singers, are also present. His songs are a dialogue with samba, bossa nova, jazz and baião. In the nine tracks, the double bass varies between carrying the rhythm and acting as a subtle soloist who sews the melodies together. It is what Felix Baigon has done throughout his career: let the music build up in layers because of the interplay of all the instruments, as it would in a great jam session.
