About Flamesthearsonist
Passionate, dedicated, versatile, and eager; these are just few of many words that can be used to describe up-and-coming Hip-Hop artist the Arsonist Having already had numerous singles on Indie charts as well as Facebook, the Arsonist is progressively proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with.
Joshua Dent Born on August 8, 1985, a young Arsonist spent his childhood in a neighborhood infested with drugs and surrounded by violence, being raised by his single parent mother in the James Weldon Johnson Projects in Spanish Harlem. Despite his mother’s every attempt to keep him in the church and out of trouble the Arsonist was a disobedient young man who refused to listen. The pretentious glitz and glamour perpetuated by the face of thug life became an instant attraction for a young poor boy looking to become hood rich. Fortunately, after a series of unfortunate events which included dropping out of high school, hanging with the wrong crowd and one instance in particular which nearly got him locked up for a really long time; the Arsonist had a wake-up call! Realizing that he had to get wise and become a leader instead of a follower he did what he loved to do; music! He started out brake-dancing and freestyling some rhymes on the train for a piece of change. The warm reception he gained from the people after one of his freestyles or dances put him on his grind to become one of the best lyrical artist to hail from the East Side of Harlem.
The first and biggest event he was involved in was an unsigned tour in 2004 with some old school emcees named the Jungle Brothers and Black Sheep. They all went on went on a three-state tour that touched base in Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire. For the Arsonist it was a great experience that taught him a lot while allowing him to have the time of his life. A few years later he started to work on his solo project. In order to get his name out there the Arsonist started signing up for local shows throughout the five boroughs, battling, and participating in plenty of rap ciphers. To achieve more and broaden his fan base he has now begun to upload his own videos to YouTube and his Facebook music page.
Although the Arsonist dedicates a lot of time to his craft he also has a life outside of his music. Currently he works in construction and extraction and enjoys dancing and all sports when he has a free moment. He is also a full-time father to one boy and one girl and he likes to think of himself as a family man. One of his biggest goals is to make sure that he always shows his son and daughter all of the love and affection that he can
He is known to express in his rhymes how his children are his motivation to strive for greatness and to believe that he can do the impossible. When asked what his career goals were he states that for the short-term he would like the opportunity to go to college to get his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice while continuing to flood the streets with mix tapes; whereas long-term, he would like to eventually get two Bachelors Degree’s, one in Criminal Justice and the other in Audio Engineering; sign a major record deal and go multiplatinum while also making sure he gets reverse royalties on his contract before he sign’s.
The Arsonist believes that a mind is a terrible thing to waste which is why he stay’s focus on the prize. Every day he thanks God for giving him the opportunity to share his talent with the world. He has a lot to say and assures his fans that “That dedication; the passion; who I am; The Arsonist,” will clearly be heard throughout all his music.
