I was not expecting that! I’ve heard so many slow country songs recently, to hear a nice upbeat one is a breath of fresh air. All you need is a guitar and a harmonica, very nice and very effective. Judging from the lyrics, a nice love for Tennessee. What more can you get. Keep on strumming girl! You’ve got an amazing future ahead of you.

I usually don't review in the critique vernacular, but that's what you asked for. So, here it goes. The Tempo is good for Bluegrass. Not too fast, but not slow either. It's pretty much in the pocket, so to speak. The melody flows effortlessly at this pace, which is great. The instrumentation is mostly appropriate, but with no mandolin or fiddle there isn't any real bluegrass flavor since both of these instruments are tuned to the same scale and are at the root of all bluegrass music. Either you have to have one...or the other. Now on the other hand, you have a smokin good banjo player and a real mean guitar picker playing together which helps make up for the lack of the fiddle and mandolin to a large degree. The blues harp also helps to fill in the gaps along with that classic bluegrass triad vocal arrangement supported by strong female vocals. So, as an ensemble, this lineup has definite appeal. Plus this is helped a lot by the musical competency and performance quality that the players bring to bear. For what y'all lack in having "Classic Bluegrass Instrumentation" you make up for with skills, execution, and imagination. That being said, personally, I would have liked to have heard more of Francois's magic harp. He didn't even take a solo. That would have added a whole different dimension to the song as whole. I hope that there are plans to incorporate more of is playing in your version of this bluegrass classic. Also, the guitar solo starts pretty slow and uninteresting when we know that this guy can burn up the neck on that thing. He gave it away during the introduction to the song! Why did you do that? He (or she...) should be burning it up from the time that they start that solo. They can slow down for that soulful emphasis in the middle or the end, but not at the beginning. Playing it that way just doesn't sound right. As I said before, on a whole this is a nice sounding version of this Bluegrass Classic, but if you don't use a fiddle or mandolin, put more Francois in there for sure. I must say this is not a Best of Your song..I like the arrangement and instrumental part .a Harmonica and banjo are great but vocal part not so much but a Energy is Great..I got an idea for You..what about do Concerts with focus on Instrumental ( Harmonica) part..I know People will go Nuts because You a GREAT Player..You will Rock The House Down..as it is now it will be hard to pitch it to Music Publishers and Radio Stations ( as a Song)..I wish You good Luck.. A good fast moving little tune with a very good start,, bass rolling and good ryhmne guitar picks up the movement as the vocals baCK OFF, LITTLE FRENCH HARP ADDED TO THE TUNE AND KEEPS YOUR FEET MOVING AND MAKES YOU WANT TO DANCE, BANJO NOT BAD EITHER, VOCALS GOOD THROUGH OUT ALL THE ACTION. I woud recommend this tune to set back and enjoy for a spell. Well balanced little catchy number

Great job with your rendition of one of the all time greatest bluegrass tunes. The guitar and banjo really hit the mark and the introduction of the blues harp is genius. Keeping true that the vocals with the 3 part harmonies is also refreshing. Very nicely done.

Hi again Francois. It is always a pleasure reviewing your songs. This too does let us down. Right from the start, the train is "barrelling down the tracks" with a full head of steam. Great voices, instrumental proficiency, harmonies. There was a bit of a slow down of the harmonica around the word phrasing "corn from a jar." Your drummer is a machine man. :) Did the banjo stumble a bit at the beginning of its solo? Very good mixing through-out the "trip." In al - AWESOME dude! :) Blessings, Trev :)

Oh yea, a good ole Tennessee standard! Great job! Love the guitar picking introduction.. I do wish the music was a bit louder in the mix. The solos are a good volume, just wish music was a little louder behind the vocals. Usually I like to hear the vocal out front a bit, but Rocky Top is always a good jam song. I'm to the instrumental part now and it's hauling butt, for sure! Loving this rendition!

Sounds great overall. Great musicianship. The vocals are nice but be very careful when harmonies meet unison notes to be in tune. This song could actually avoid unison vocals. The vocals are a bit hot. I really like the rendition. Nice job.

Nice fast tempo. Very well done harmonies. I like the story good quick drum playing and the guitar solo is nice kind of like old Bonnie and Clyde music. The harmonica is done well my favorite part is the banjo solo. Nice work.

Although in terms of purist attitudes, harmonica and drums would not be part of traditional Bluegrass, I think your version is one of the freshest and most interesting versions of this song I've heard in a long time!
