During the time of the Pandemic with Fuasi and Ensemble
I hope everyone is doing OK and have not been personally affected by this covid-19. I also want to give my condolences to anyone who has or knows of someone who has lost their battle with the corona virus disease.
It is been 12 weeks since live performance venues were closed in Berlin and no idea when they would be open again (some have predicted not until September). I know we are all in this together and we are doing the best we can with the jazz clubs being closed. I have missed being able to perform for you and staying in contact with you about our projects and live performances. We are all also doing our best to stay out of harms way with this disease by staying home as much as possible and wearing our protective mask when we do venture out until we get the all-clear signal from the national health services. Let’s pray there is no second wave like it has been predicted.
Without live music being available for our audiences, followers and fans, it has become a very difficult time for all of us performing artists as well as for all of you, the listeners. The thing that I can do at the moment is share some music from my archive for you to listen and enjoy until we have the chance in the future to one day meet again with new music as well as our classic repertoire.
During this lock-down I started putting some videos of my music together to share. I have included the links to my video channel so if you are interested you are welcome to visit my YouTube channel and checkout the selections I uploaded. I am also selling digital tracks of my music to help with the deficit that I am experiencing with no work since March. I would appreciate it very much if you can help support me in this time of uncertainty and the lack of financial income. I left links for you to go to my Bandcamp platform to check out the music I uploaded, and you are welcome to download the individual songs or purchase an album. The cost for a single track is €1 and for an album the cost is €7. All of the monies are paid to my Paypal account…einfach (easy).
Thank you in advance for your support and I hope the next time I reach out to you with a notice will be to inform you about our next concert. Hope to see you soon and take care of yourself for me.
Peace and love and stay safe

https://youtu.be/msqfRZ7HN74 - Mattye Q (or mama knows)
"Mattye Que" is a song I wrote for my mom around 2006 for a jazz group that I was involved in at the time called "In Exile". My mom made her transition a few years ago and I decided that I wanted to record this song in honor of her posthumously. I wanted to record the tune with real musicians but ended up doing the recording by myself performing all the parts with an electronic wind instrument (EWI). One day I will record it again with real players but until then this is my contribution. Her name is Mattye Que and this is her song from me.

I want to share my composition, Guiro Blues, performed by my group (Fuasi and Ensemble), which was recorded live at a jazz festival in Germany where we were invited to... "Eldenaer Jazz Evening 2007". I wrote this song based upon the Cuban rhythm called Güiro. I've been very interested in Cuban music and rhythms because of it's lineage to the African rhythms from where it originates. The players on the hit were Rolf Zielke on piano, Max Hughes on e. bass, Michael Clifton (RIP) on drums and myself on sop sax.

I want to share my composition, Kitchen Groove, performed by my group (Fuasi and Ensemble), which was recorded live at the Atrane Jazz Club in Berlin, Germany in 1998. The composition was inspired from listening to my mom who would always sing as she worked in the kitchen and around the house while I was growing up. Her singing always brought a sense of calmness to the house whenever she sang her "kitchen grooves". The players on the hit are Marque Lowenthal on piano, Stanislaw Michalak on a.bass, Kenny Martin on drums and myself on ten sax.

I want to share my composition, Lady Barbara, performed by my group (Fuasi and Ensemble), which was recorded live at the Cafê Central Jazz Club in Madrid, Spain in 2000. The composition was inspired and written for my life partner who has been my greatest supporter in my career and life in general for the past 25 years. This is my way of honoring her love with this beautiful song I wrote for her. The players on the hit are Marque Lowenthal on piano, Stanislaw Michalak on a.bass, Nirankar Khalsa on drums and myself on ten sax.
Blessings ...stay safe
