About Genuene
Genuene was born in a time where crime and drugs plagued the city of Baltimore, Maryland. Doing his upbringing his witnessed so much pain and suffering that he often kept to himself. From his abusive Genuene was born in a time where crime and drugs plagued the city of Baltimore, Maryland. Doing his upbringing his witnessed so much pain and suffering that he often kept to himself. From his abusive past with his father to the prayers of his mother, he knew that in only a matter of time, he would be able to translate that un-spoken pain bottled up inside into something incredible.
After seven years of searching for a style and genre that fit him, Genuene decided that his brand or style was one outside the box. A style that started when he was about 18 years old. His drive and hustle was recognized by many producers, directors, up and coming artists and many more. During this time, he wrestled with many demons. Then in 2000, he started recording mix tapes with an array of talented individuals. As he began to write music, he noticed that his style was one of those artists who told graphic prolific tales of the hard life in his neck of the woods. Trying to keep the momentum going cost him a lot including personal relationships, long term friendships and many more.
Then at 26, Genuene met two up and coming entertainers (Overflow and Dy-verse). Feeling like this was his big chance he practiced and studied up on his craft until that faithful night when he was able to graduate from recording with a tape recorder to CD seemed reachable. Hard work and dedication was the name of the game. Genuene and Overflow set out to orchestrate the best mix tape entitled Especially For You. This would combine gritty beats with hard hitting stories about pain possible achievements and jaded love and compassion. In 2006after all the hard work, long hours and many setbacks, the first mix tape was completed and ready for the world. After selling the first copy of Especially For You, he became overwhelmed with pride that joy that something he put his mind to was completed. That same year, he set out to found he own line. Then that December he decided to use his tax return to power his next dream. With his money in hand, he went to BEST BUY to complete his music studio.
From 2006 to 2008 he recorded three mix tapes PARDON MY INTERRUPTION, THE EDGE and GONE 2 FAR: Tha Breathtaka. All three embodied raw talent, raw feelings and the will to not conform. This also was the rebirth of Genuene as an unstoppable talent and a lyricist. Still needing the extra push he called upon Overflow and Dy-verse with other talented artist to complete the extravaganza which was Who U Wit Entertainment. Then after taking a break to focus on his many problems, he returned full circle to Overflow’s studio and began working on his next mixtape Tears Of A Hustler . He knew that this would make or break him. During the creation of that mixtape he became homeless. Even then, his drive was amazingly kept intact. That’s when he became more than a rapper but a voice for all broken people. With songs like “Shut Em Down”, and “Tears of a Hustler” his lyrical content became a staple for those who always had things on his mind but never had the means to speak up and let their heart shine ultimately.
In 2010, Genuene began a campaign to fully represent CCP Muzik (owned by Dy-verse) to the fullest. This included bringing along the original members of Who U Wit Entertainment (Skola, Frame Of Mind, FAME, Sapphire etc). They embarked on a failed attempt to orchestrate a CCP MUZIK COMPILATION. While working on that Genuene and Dy-verse decided to put that on hold to complete a joint mix tape called Dy and Gen (expired link). Volume 1. But after time started hindering process, that album was shelved also. In 2012, after working with Drex aka LTG on “Hands On Your Knees” , he decided to represent (expired link). to the fullest. Also, he began working with Skola J Banks and Duchess Label FAME GANG ENTERTAINMENT. Doing that time, he engineered the first mixtape of Meezy/Bigg Cha$e “Average”. Then he began to work on his debut album CRUEL WORLD. This album would embody the Cruel, crazy, hurtful, sinful world we live in. The process behind the album was a very interesting one. But it was completed. After completed that, he completed a mixtape entitled The Collington Project and The Collington Project 2. He has learned to use his pain and suffering to power his music and life in general.
