Hello guys and gals,
I don't need to tell you people that living in these times is stressful and hard. People from generation to generation have always faced daily trials with the demandments life brings. It doesn't matter what age you are, at every stage of life, the struggles that confront us constantly are always there to greet us each new day. But, I will tell you that fighting in today's world, to live well and have a family with a World Pandemic attacking us at every level, well, that's extreme to say the least.
This is not the world I was a child in. I was lucky enough to be a teenager when The Beatles made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. On Friday and Saturday nights I listen to some of the best music of my generation while cruising in my 1957 Chevy two door hard top coupe on Kearney street in Springfield, Missouri. I was seventeen, in love with life and my girlfriend who sat closely beside me.
This is not the life for our youth in today's world, that's sad. But one thing has remained through out the years, music, and our love for it. It is the drug you can use that has no I'll effects, and yet will help you through that bad day. I wish the best for all my friends, old and new. Fight the good fight and turn up the music.

About my song “FREE RIDE”.
The world I grew up in during the 1950s and the 1960s, is NOT the world no one lives in today.
While it’s true, some things have gotten better, it’s is also true, that for many of our gains, we have also lost some things that made Americans so special. Some things', that gave each individual person in this country, strength through adversity and determination to overcome the hardships that life can send their way.
It is also true, that sometimes we all need a helping hand to pull us from our knees where we have fallen. A helping hand to get us over hills we can’t climb by our selves. Family, social services, community, and government, can all play a part to give us that hand up from our those knees. And in some cases, that help must go on for years, even though it’s by no fault of the people receiving the help, that is just life.
But people living on welfare, raising their kids on welfare, those kids raising their kids on welfare, and on and on….. That is just wrong.
Only strength of personal character can break this cycle in a family dynamic and bring about change. And of course, along with this strength and desire to change a persons personal outcome in life, there must be opportunity to make these changes. This is where society it’s self comes in to play.
It has been said; Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life.
Almost anyone can relate to the sense of this statement.
As to the thousands of people coming to our borders wanting to come here to better their lives; who can blame them?
But would it not be better for us to teach them how to build a better life and social structure within their own country, Instead of bankrupting our social help networks here? After all, these systems are foremost for the citizens of the United states, and paid for by the same.
Hey! Give a listen to "FREE RIDE" and let me know what you think.
I hope you all enjoy the song. And if it please's you, please click the heart to let me know.
Sincerely, Gerald Bubba Ulmer

ARE YOU GUYS LIKE ME, SICK OF THE NEWS REHASHING THE 2016 ELECTION? GOOD GRIEF CHARLEY BROWN!
ANY WAY! I hope this letter finds you all happy and well.
I had hoped to be able to tell you all about a new song I had written and produced, but in all honesty; the last song I wrote was. “BETTER THINK ABOUT IT”.
But I did do a cover song, one of only three that I have placed on my play list. It is one of my personal favorites, by Chris Isaak, that I’m sure most of you are familiar with; “WICKED GAME”.
I am not personally fond of cover songs, believing that in most case’s, the artist who preformed it first, is the one people should hear sing it. But I love this song so much, and it has such a message to all of us about life and love, and especially, loving the wrong one so much that it can be destructive to the person who has fallen so completely, that they lose their self in obsessions, of what they perceive as the ‘ONE’! The only one for them.
Anyway, I picked up my guitar and started playing it the way that I felt it, hoping that my personal take on the song expressed my own, youthful memory, of and all consuming love that was not to be at that time. I hope that is what you hear when you play it, along with Chris’s deep understanding of the pain of unrequited love, within his lyrics.
But about my’ own music, and what it has done for me through out my life.
Well, even at a young age, I found my love for music. I learned early that music was a way to express feelings of happiness, grief, joy, and love. And whether I am composing and playing my’ work, or listening to the work of other artist that I admire, it does not matter. You and I can find all aspects of life’s drama expressed within that which surly comes from our soul, that which we call music.
I have considered my self blessed, that GOD gave me what small talent I possess, so that I am able to create music that people enjoy enough to follow me and the songs I write and sing.
If you have not checked out my last song, “BETTER THINK ABOUT IT”, or my version of “WICKED GAME”, please do and let me know what you think. You can find both songs and many others here;

May your lives be filled with days of joy, and love for one another.

SOMETIMES, LIFE COMES AT FULL TILT!
To all of you, my fans and others new to my music, I’m sorry that I have not kept in touch for awhile. But you see, my health has not been very good. And on the morning of March 7th, this year, I woke up at three in the morning, suffering from the beginning of a heart attack.
This was not my first, that was in 2001, but they don’t get any easier the second time around, that’s for sure. But anyway, they placed another stent in a blocked artery and I’m doing a lot better.
So much so, that this morning I got up, picked up my guitar and from out of no where, a new song came to me. It was one of the easiest songs to write that I have ever wrote, but I think it is also one of the best.
I recorded the main track, up loaded it into my DAW software, placed some string instruments into it, along with some choir vocals, and finished it in one day.
I name it, “BETTER THINK IT OVER”. I think that it will hit most of you close to your’ heart, and I hope you enjoy listening to it.
GOD BLESS you all, and thank you for giving me the chance to place my music before you.
Signed, Gerald ‘Bubba’ Ulmer (Bubba Groove)

“ANOTHER STORMY DAY”
Hello fellow music lovers,
Over the past few years, I have received a great amount of support from all of you. I thank and love you all for that support and all the best wishes you send. With out it, what would be the purpose of creating music by anyone?
No matter the “ART”, that any artist creates, with out those that appreciate and enjoy what has been created, it might as well be buried in a vault somewhere, hidden, as though it never existed. Music, paintings, theater, what ever… all art comes from the soul, and is a gift from our creator, to the artist and all the people who enjoy it.
One thing I also wish to talk to you all about is this; I get many messages asking, WHERE CAN MY MUSIC BE PURCHASED?
There are “BUY” links on some of my songs right here on ‘(expired link)’. But’ if you search my pen names on line, you will find much of my music for sale as download sales on most major music sales sites.
Search by my pen names; ‘Gerald Bubba Groove Ulmer’, Gerald Bubba Ulmer’, or just ‘Gerald Ulmer’.
I have singles, and one album for sale with six of my best songs on it. It’s title is “MUSIC FOR THE AVERAGE HILLBILLY”.
I hope that helps you find my work online and it will also put some ‘fries and burger’ money into my pocket. LOL
I’m getting a lot older, but still enjoy making music; and will do so as long as the Lord allows me to do so, and you guys want to hear it.
Now, let me talk to you about a song that I have been working on for a while. I titled it; “ANOTHER STORMY DAY”.
Relationships are a hard thing to keep on a level keel. Anyone who’s been in one for a while will attest to that. Even with the best of couples, who almost never have an argument, there will be times that it seems as though nothing will bring the marriage/relationship back to where it started, with love and tenderness between the two of you. I know, I’ve been there myself.
As I have often said; in order to write songs about life, first you need to live a little of it.
I am posting “ANOTHER STORMY DAY”, today, 1-30-2019.
I will not spend the money to place it on the paid download sites unless you guys feel that it’s good enough, and warrants me doing so. If enough of you guys ask me to, so you can purchase a down load of it, I will, then I’ll post the buy link.
Also, you will find that I have posted the lyrics with the song for those of you that want them. Please enjoy, and leave a “heart” feed back if you like it. And pass the word on to your friends about the song.
Love to all, ‘Bubba’

MY VERSION OF A GOSPEL SONG
“LIKE JOHN THE BAPTIST”
Hello everybody,
I hope the new year has started off right for all of you. As for Xmas, well, Santa was a little stingy this year. Or perhaps I’ve been somewhat bad?
Naw! Never happened. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
But I want you all to know that music is always on my mind, and getting out something new for you guys and gals to check out is also been in my thoughts.
I don’t know if you have all noticed, but for most of my work now days, I use just my acoustic guitar, my voice, and add some accent instruments with just my DAW with my computer. Kind of a one man band affair.
Or have I told you that before? I told you I’m getting up in years. LOL.
I turned 69 years old in 2018, and I’m here to tell you, I am beginning to feel every one of those years. Like OL’ WILLY’, I’m looking at more years behind me than there are in front of me. So, with that in mind, I decided to have a little fun with my music and belt one out for J. C..
(Jesus Christ, for those of you that didn’t get the hint)
Anyway, it’s just a simple little tune I call, “LIKE JOHN THE BAPTIST”. Give a listen to it and see what you think.
My wife laughed at me when she heard it, and I give you permission to do the same if you wish. It’s just a rough recording, done in one take. So don’t expect a sound quality to rival the Phil Harmonic Orchestra. But please check it out and also give some thought to what the lyrics are saying to you. Even the stones of the earth are not forever. (But they’ll be around a lot longer than we will, so give some thought to you’re day of judgment.)
Love to you all, and God bless.

Hello to everybody, may you have a great Christmas this year.
I have posted something different within my list of songs. It is not a song, but something I wish to give to you all to you and your families.
It is a snapshot taken from my childhood during Christmas time, 1959.
I wrote the story some years back, about a lesson I learned from my grandparents, who, at the time did not even know that they were giving me one.
I have read the story out loud and recorded it for all to listen to. Please excuse my stumbling voice, as I have a slight cold, causing me to pause once in a while.
You may freely download it if you wish, and keep it for your family to listen to. Perhaps it will be food for thought about charity through the holidays.
Please take a moment to listen to the story, I think it will entertain you, regardless of your age. And if you are getting up in years, it might take you back to those days so long ago, when the world moved just a little slower.
Please share it to your friends, as my Christmas gift to you all.
Sincerely, Gerald Bubba Ulmer (Bubba Groove)

‘LOOKING BACKWARDS’
To all my fans and listeners to my music,
I know I have not written anything to you guys and gals for a spell, but I was hoping to have a new song for you all to listen to before I did. Oh well.
I have been working on a couple of ideas, but they just haven’t ‘Gelled’ yet. And I do not want to post anything that I wouldn’t listen to my self. If I can’t make it right, I wont record, and post it at all.]
But being about to turn 69 years old on the last day of the year, it has got me thinking. About life, the struggles we all face while living it, and so on.
But if you don’t mind, I would like to pass on some hard learned lessons to those of you that fall into that group of people, still working, trying to raise a family, and running 90 miles and hour chasing after life. By the term, ‘Chasing after life’, I mean; your running so fast with work, home building, hobbies, and barking at the kids. Well, you see, life is what happens while you are making plans for it.
I will advise you of this; one day you will turn around and look behind you, and what will you find? Thirty, forty, fifty, and even sixty years have passed. The kids are all grown and moved away. Half of the family and friends that have been the ‘Solar system of your world’, has passed on, and your standing there wondering where those happy times you were looking for, for so many years, went? When the truth is, you were living them. You just didn’t slow down enough to see the scenery as you were racing down the hi-way of life.
If you are in those years of raising kids, when you should be sharing and making love with their mother, then “STOP” and take a breath. Then hug your kids, tell them you love them, and go ‘make’ love to your wife! (After you take her out for dinner and a movie. It might work out better with her that way.)
In 1967, I stood in the school parking lot, beside my 1957 Chevy, and watched and old man rocking in a porch swing. I thought;
“Damn, that old man is lucky! All he has to do is set on that porch and take it easy”
Oh how stupid the young can be! You see I was running through my school years, working after school, and chasing after the young women doing the same. And I thought I didn’t have time to squat! And that’s the way I spent most of my life, running after it so fast, I took no time to live it.
Then one day, my older brother died at the age of sixty two from cancer. I stopped then, and took stock of my self, looked back at all those years, ‘not wasted’, but lived poorly. I was fifty eight at the time.
But I did live some good times, through all those years. I sing about them in my songs. I try to tell the story of those years, the hard times and the good times.
I could have done better while living them, and taken a little more time to notice and mark them in my memories. And LORD knows, we could all do better by our love ones, be they kids, parents, or the one that puts up with your cr$p.
You all have a good evening. Curl up on the couch with your wife and kids with a bowl of popcorn and watch a movie together. Because there will come a time when the option to do so will no longer be there. And when you get up in the years as I am, and look back, you will need some good memories to lean on, and even bring a smile across your face.
As to my songs, if you have not heard "STANDING ON THE EDGE", give it a listen. It is different from some of my other songs, but people seem to like it.
Love to all, ‘Gerald Bubba Ulmer’
P. S. Do me a favor and share my music links to family and friends if you do like it. Making music is no fun if there is no one to hear it.

‘WE LUCKY PEOPLE, WE WHO HEAR THE MUSIC’
Hello to all,
Do you know why we love music so much?
If not, I’ll give you a clue… Aw heck, I’ll just tell you what I know to be true in my heart. Music, reaches out to the center of our being. It can help us find a balance our to our daily lives, when the crap hits the fan. Music is a gift, to those who will listen.
Not all people know this gift. They just either can’t hear, nor will they listen, to the music that’s all around them. And that music does not come from only our voices, nor the instruments we accompany our song with. (Nor the radio, LOL)
If you are one of those people who can stand on a timbered hillside on a fall day, and listen to the leaves rustle while the wind blows through them, and it gives you pleasure and joy in your heart, just to be there for that special moment, and you realize just how special that moment is, cherish it.
If, in brief moments such as these, you hear the music of life; and because of that God given gift, you can find peace within your soul.
We all have heard that old saying; “TAKE TIME TO STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES”. It’s the same thing; stop and hear the music. Or sing along to it!
And if your singing voice seems to be tone deaf, sing anyway. You will find joy in doing so. And be like me; feel sorry for those who just can’t, or, nor will they slow down long enough to…hear that music.
While I have got your attention, I ask you to glance over the songs I post. Have you noticed, that it would be really hard to fit them all into one ‘genre’?
If you hadn’t, take my word for it, it is. And I feel there is a reason for that. My songs come to me as and inspiration, in a burst of creativity, that I can’t explain. And all my songs seem to come from mostly, my life experiences. And often, they include the joy or pain I see in others lives.
No two days of life are exactly alike. Some are joyful, some painful, and others, just plan confusing, as to; “WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT ALL ABOUT?” That you will ask your self, when the days work is done, and we find time, to sit down and mull it over.
I am glad that the inspirations for my music seem to come out of left field! And I’m never sure whether that ball will be a ‘grounder’, or a high flying ‘pop up’. I just write it, play it, and sing it as it comes to me. That way, I’m not bored with creating it, and I hope your not bored with listening to it.
Sometimes, you’ll find a message in the lyrics, if I am concerned over world events, and where they are taking us. Please forgive that urge to do so. We all need to ‘VENT’ once in a while.
If you are a fan of my work, check my play list often, as I post new songs almost as soon as I get them recorded.
(Note, I do all writing, performing, and sound production, adding instruments played, by my self, using “DAW” software. Hence, you won’t find perfection here; just a lot of heart, poured into my work.)
God bless you all. And to get through those hard days; turn up the sound on your favorite music, and throw away those pills. They just dull the pain anyway, and do not help you really feel better, as music will.
If you do like my songs, please click the 'HEART' and let me know.
Have a great day and even better evening!
Sincerely, Gerald Bubba Ulmer
