Hello fans;
Unfortunately California as gone into a purple tier 10pm to 5am curfew. The GJT was able to do 9 shows since August 22 2020, including a worldwide livestream concert from the famed Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. I am thankful for the opportunity to do so many shows while others are not. I will update fans when we are able to perform again. We still have a show scheduled for Dec 6th, but we'll see. The Ghost Jazz Trio is very excited to announce a livestream performance for the famed Coach House Concert Hall, 7pm October 20th, located in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Many great acts have and will perform there, including Al Di Meola, Suzzanne Vega and others. Check the Coach House website calendar for correct time in a week or so, as the start time may change.
The concert will be broadcast through a worldwide livestream platform owned by a few of the Rolling Stones members.
During this Covid issue, many bands have had to cancel and even quit playing for awhile. The Ghost Jazz Trio has been fortunate enough to stay afloat, having performed a livestream concert back in April for the San Diego Food Bank, raising enough donations to feed 6500 people in need, and a couple outside shows for restaurants in the area.
The Ghost Jazz Trio was also able to record it's debut CD recording "Invisible Time", which is now available an most online music platforms for purchase and streaming.
The GJT will perform a 90 minute set, including songs from the recording as well as other originals not yet recorded. We will also do a couple Pat Metheny covers, including Phase Dance and Minuano, both can be found on YouTube.
We will do a few other Jazz artist covers too; George Benson, Miles Davis, Kenny Burrell
We look forward to finally getting to perform a concert and promote the new CD recording.
The GJT hopes you will all be able to watch the concert on Oct 2oth, and tell others about it too.

About Ghost Jazz Trio
The Ghost Jazz Trio are a three time nominated band for "Best Jazz Album of the Year" 21-22-23, based in San Diego, CA featuring founder/guitarist/composer and producer James Morgan. On the debut album, Invisible Time, James is joined by Aaron Seener and Jack Nathan, and on his next album On the Level, James is joined by renowned bassist and recording artist Nathan Brown, drummer Jack Nathan, pianist Chase Pado and special guest Patrick Yandall on guitar. On the 2022 release "Dreams Above" James features sax-man Andrew Nichols. All of the compositions are written and arranged by James Morgan on all three album. James brought in legendary guitarist Dean Brown to produce his fourth 2023 album Groovin Smooth, released on Guitar One Records. Dean brown co-wrote many of the songs and plays on the album. All four albums debuted in the top 100 smooth jazz charts, with some albums climbing to the number one spot.
James Morgan grew up in northern California and as a teen in the 1970's started listening to Return To Forever and John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra inspiring him to take up playing the guitar. In the late seventies James was fortunate enough to take guitar lessons from Bill Connors of Return To Forever fame. He lived in Santa Cruz, CA and drove to Half Moon Bay weekly to take lessons whereby he formed a close friendship with Bill. James went on to become a bandleader throughout the following decades, writing his own compositions whilst forming various Jazz Fusion bands along the way. More recently he decided he wanted to start writing music that evokes 'emotion and imagery' and created his own genre of music called 'Ambient Jazz' that is both 'relaxing and interesting. James formed the dynamic, and mysteriously named Ghost Jazz Trio, in 2017. Their 2020 debut album entitled 'Invisible Time' was a complex and synergetic production that achieved critical acclaim and outstanding success in a short period of time, culminating in being nominated for 'Best Jazz Album Of The Year' by the 2021 San Diego Music Awards. The album was featured on more than 150 radio station playlists worldwide and climbed to the Top 100 in their Smooth Jazz Global Radio Charts. The second album “On the Level” released in 2021 is an eclectic and spirited journey including elements of vibrant R&B, Smooth Jazz, Funk and Jazz Swing with some complex and intricate jazz arrangements which will demand attention, peak your imagination and raise the awareness of this talented and innovative Southern Californian trio.
Look for the new album "Dreams Above" to release April 2022 with guest artists Chase Pado on piano and smooth jazz recording artist Andrew Nichols on sax.
All of the compositions on the albums were written and arranged by James Morgan.
Look for James Morgan's new solo jazz fusion album with Gary Husband on drums and keyboards and Hadrien Feraud on bass to release in early 2024 on GO Records.
