Gor Hovhannisyan - Ensemble St. Machar

Thank you very much for following to our channel! We finished the Album: ''Are you Going to the Party'', which has songs about holy people of God, who martyred, or spoke the Word in different places, or lived as hermits. The first song is from the Jeremiah, the second is about St. Vardan, who martyred at a battle with Persians. The third one is about St. Nino who brought the Christianity to Georgia in 4rth century. Also there is a song called Stabat Mater, about St. Mary who was standing at the Cross, looking to her Son. I will put that song on this letter. Also there are two songs for Ice Skating, I will put them very soon to this site, and two songs for the Presentation of Jesus - St. Simeon songs. Now, I started to work on my new Album, I finished the beat for the first song, which will be called: A Concourse of Motorcyclers. It is inspired by the Motorcycles big gathering at Killington, VT, in 2002, when I was there at the Music Festival. I loved the place, and we were rehearsing at K1, with lots of skies there... I am attaching an old Armenian Christmas song to this letter, we recorded it this year with the string quartet. The performers names are: Tereza Nacharyan, Gayane Kakoyan, Gor Hovhannisyan, Armine Petrosyan.

Dear Friends!

I have now posted all the 8 songs written by Nerses the Gracious in 12th century as single part melodies, and arranged by me for 3 part choir. They were intended for the morning service at Armenian church. There are 4 main songs, each one succeeded by its fast song, the latter having a simplified text of it's main song.
The names of the performers in our recording are: Harutyun Khachatryan, Michael Tovmasyan, tenors, Gagik Martirosyan, bass. They are professional singers from our State Capella.
Nerses the Gracious was the leader of Armenian church, and he organized the Armenian church music. He built also relationships with the Byzantine and the Catholic churches.

Dear Friends!

We are working now on an album which is a compilation of my remaining songs written in Armenia, prior to my leaving for Boston in 2006, (I studied there for 1 year) and are not included in any other albums. Those songs have no general connection with each other. There are two songs for the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple: St. Simeon's Joy, and an arrangement of the Armenian chant. Yesterday we recorded 3 Songs for the Martyrdom of St. Vardan Mamikonian and his friends. There are 2 songs about St. Nino, who brougt Christianity to Georgia, and there are 2 songs about St. Sargis who was a Roman Christian general who was martyred with his little son in Persia in 5th c. Some songs in this new album are maybe possible to play at the Ice scating programs, I will attach one such song to this letter, and, who understands, can judge if it is suiting for that. I hope to finish all the recordings in February/March at latest, and I will gradually post them on my page here. When I returned from Boston, my style changed a lot, because I had many impressions from Boston's musical life, and learned many things which were integrated in my music.

Dear Friends! I am happy to announce that our group is working now on a new album which will be, maybe, called Moses of Khoren (Մովսես Խորենացի), because the songs in it resemble the songs by Moses of Khoren. This composer and writer lived in 5th century, he wrote beautiful church hymns and praising texts for holy feasts.

Hopefully all songs will be ready until the Fall. I am not sure for their order yet. I posted one of the songs here: a piano sonata, and we will post all of its songs gradually. I also attach a Youtube link for the 2 String Quartet pieces which will be included in that Album.

I am happy to work with our high-class performers who work at the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra: Tereza Nacharyan, Gayane Kakoyan, violins; Armine Petrosyan, cello; Andranik Kochar, bassoon; Hovhannes Papikyan, oboe; Armen Hovakimyan, contrabass and Arshavir Isahakyan, French horn. All of them are recording this album with me.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Tonight we will celebrate the feast of Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that He is the only one Son of God, who was born before the creation. God from God, like, for example, the light in the room is from the light from the sun. He took our flesh from Virgin Mary and became a real man. He was tortured and killed on the cross and resurrected on the third day and showed Himself to his disciples. He resurrected as a man, because He didn't have sins.
Only He can clean us from our sins, if we get the suffering and die for the world like He did. And, if one is clean from his sins and dead for this world, he will not see the phisical death, but will live eternally, like Adam in paradise. I think that can happen already in this life. So I wish you that this would happen to you! I attach two Songs for the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ to this letter. They are old songs, but we are now working hard on the new ones, hopefully they will be ready very soon.
