The rain

I've heard the rain here, fast movement of fingers after a slow beginning of the rain, and its capricious now fast now slow character of the rain, the pitch sound reminds drops falling. I have felt as if were looking the rain through the window or seeing a tv film raining. Only, I would like it had last a bit more time.

Gentle Raindrops

Mountain Rain by Greg Ryan offers a relaxing picture of rain drops that takes the listener on a wander among the pleasant scenery of remembered walks. A lovely piece to listen to on a day indoors when you would prefer to out walking.

Easy to listen to

You are truely a master of the keys! I especially timed the crescendos. Very well done to say the least. I take reviewing other artists real serious. I have my own system for doing so. It's called: AWZ'z N1M HAMMER SYSTEM or "ANHS" for short "AWZ" that's me; "HAMMER" Is an acronym for the 6 catagories of the song being reviewed Your song scored 5☆'s On my ANHS Review It Has everything a hammer needs to drive the nail home. This Song is a HAMMER Song The HAMMER system is pretty self explanatory. HOOK ☆☆☆☆☆ ARRANGEMENT ☆☆☆☆☆ MUSIC ☆☆☆☆☆ MUSICIANSHIP ☆☆☆☆☆ ENTERTAINMENT ☆☆☆☆☆ RADIO READY ☆☆☆☆☆ If you had gotten anything less than 5☆ in any catagory I would take the time to explain why. Well Done AWZ

Really sounds like Mountain Rain

This music sound really inspired, sounds a little irish, peaceful also, if I have to find something to improve it, it does not sound complete, it sound like a question without answer, if you can write a second part that would be awesome......

Leper's Review

Wow! What I like the most about this song is that you can play fast and still have it sounding peaceful. I cant hear anything I would think should be improved in the song, it was great from beginning to end. The dynamics were also stellar. Keep doing what your doing, great work.

Music to my ears!

I was moved by your playing, the passion and depth of it. Excitement and anticipation as the consistency in your playing is really phenomenal. Should I dare say it... at times I thought I was listening to Rick Wakeman the arpeggios and melody lines were very reminiscent of Rick's skill level and classical training. I felt the entire piece coming right at me. The melody was beautiful and your playing is so skilled I was entranced. Great job conveying the sweeping emotions that music stirs in all of us!

Review for Mountain Rain by Greg Ryan

This is such a beautiful piece! The piano playing is phenomenal and cuts to the soul. The feel of the song makes it easy to almost "see" it in my mind. This piece is a beautiful arrangement for sure. Bravo on a job well done!

It's raining!

Suggestive track that lead us trough woods wetted by rain. Greg make it just with a piano, falling a long series of semiquavers and demisemiquavers, unceasing, often entrusted to right hand for a more suitable drops effect.

That makes me dream ...

When I listen to this music, I dream. This music makes me think of two lovers who meet again after a long separation. As you can guess, your music is perfect for a movie scene. I feel the emotion in what you do musically and I like it a lot. Good luck ! Ludovic KETE.

Mountain Rain

Hi Greg, It's very sweet and melancholy. It makes me feel to Nobuo Uematsu and Shinko Ogata. Very good piece. Light and harmonic. Good Job. Good luck.

Beautiful

This is a beautiful piece of incidental music; it is a sonic representation of the piece title. I enjoyed this thoroughly. Your level of technical prowess is excellent and allows this piece to blossom. You incorporate a few tasty chord changes that keep the piece from remaining purely diatonic - thank you for that - keeps the harmonic rhythm interesting and allows for holding our interest as well. If I had any critique to apply, and this is being very technically picky, it would be that I would have mixed the piano a good bit brighter - perhaps. That is just my specific taste in mixing. A wonderful little piece regardless of mix preferences. Thank you so much for sharing. Jon Charles Fortman, producer, The Antique Harmoniums.

Compelling and satisfying - A masterfully artistic rendition of one of the most pleasurable experiences in nature.

Did you ever experience the pleasure of having you face massaged by delicate raindrops in a clear and refreshing woodland setting. I can tell you from personal experience that the sensation of raindrops upon your face on the summit of a beautiful mountain is incredible satisfying. Beautiful is the only word that comes near to describing this experience. Greg’s “Mountain Rain” captures this celestial experience superbly with all its subtle graduations. The light and beautifully delicate chords of the introductory bars hint at this and his mastery and dexterity both in terms of composition and performance. Following the introduction there is a glass like melodic motive that is developed on a bed of tremolos (raindrops falling, dancing and reverberating upon themselves and clear pools of accumulated raindrops - so refreshing). Greg’s mastery of composition/tone poems is also demonstrated by his skillful use of inversions, contour melodies and bass line and melody manipulation in the development of this delicate piece of music. A great tone poem. Keep it up.
