Vanished...

At last an artist who showcases harmonica talent! Loving the whole piece, percussion is beautiful as well as the blend of other instruments. The lyrics are something like a Hard Luck and a Love Lost Song, a mutual experience for many, "The One Who Got AWAY. I love this song, excellent vocals and a country rock sound that keeps listeners engaged.

very country rock

very nice. gives me that slow bon jovi feel. everything that i look for in a song, this had. i liked how all the instruments allowed the others to do their work. the lead guitar and the harmonica only played around each other. they both let the vocals do their thing and the bass would occasionally roll in with an amazing fill just as the drums to help accent the end of a verse or bridge and then go back to the standard riff. perfectly composed song. the appeal was there in the melody and the lyrics and the feel of the song completely fit

Catchy little song

This is a song with a very attractive arrangement and a catchy melody. The song deserves attention and the style is "my" style, but the very special positive thing with nice song is the nice arrangements

Happy from the start

This is a great song and a joy to review. It's got the right idea of starting off real upbeat, and holds the plane with a good slide complimenting the very melodic but serious harp. I didn't quite get the message of the lyrics yet, but it don't matter because the hook works real good and the will to listen for more times is definitely there, so after listening to it regularly, I'll know what it's all about.

Vanished in the Blue

At some point in my life, I hope I will enter into an American pub where there are lots of people enjoying themselves. The noise level is pleasant high, the atmosphere is good and a large group of people are dancing in synchronized linedance with a true traditional country band playing in the background. Talk about drawing a stereotypical image, although this is just my imagination, but one has seen so many American films that it could have been true, right. Anyway, this is of the greatest positive opinion and I love it. The band plays steadily and great with all its elements in good interaction. A steady flow of balanced use of the slideguitar and the harmonica, rhythmic and restrained percussion and bassist, back up vocals lifts the singer, it all creates nice, solid, depth and completeness for this genre, what can go wrong, nothing. A round on me for everyone from the bar ( everyone cheering ). Good job guys. It might sounds like a cliché, but I found the use of all these metaphors necessary to convey my friendly message. One day, I really hope that I will go to visit the United States of America. Lars Christian Størkersen, ( Fresh Percussion Studio ), Norway.

Review of 'Vanished in Blue' by Harmonica Steve

An upbeat Country/Southern sounding track. Sounds like it's recorded in a professional studio as the quality is very high, both of the playing/singing but of the recording. The mix is high quality too. Musicianship is top level, love the harmonica playing and slide guitar. Nice voice too...perfect for this genre of music. What about the song..well it's a good track but I'd like to have heard a bit more dynamics in there, it's pretty much just two chords all the way through, throughout the verse and chorus and the tone of the vocal doesn't change either...Other than that, I liked it a lot.

Vanished In The Blue

I'm generally not interested in country tunes but this is the exception. An amazing intro grabs you by the scruff of the neck and throws you down Tom Petty lane. Fantastic musicianship and production are both topped with a strong song lyric and vocal performances. The weaving of the vocals at the end of the track is outstanding and then boom.....time to play it again I thinks. An excellent song from every angle and worthy of your time ! Peter

Hey there Mr. Steve the Harmonica man! Great song \m/ Really good mix down of everything. No one instrument or vocal overpowers the other... Everything seems to be "in its place" if you will ???? I like the lyrics and what the song is about. Great Harmonica skills too. If anything maybe a little bit more of a build up around the hook area for that extra oomph. Great job! Keep on Rawkin \m/

nice song

Hi Steve. Nice song. Very Sunny and cheerful. Makes me remeniscent of my journey through the Sunny State... Isn't Bella Vista located in the San Francisco Bay area ? The song is musically well done, The harmonica is superb. I like the way you repeat the title near the end of the song; it certainly holds a climax that's reached just before the song ends. And I can certainly relate to what you convey through the lyrics which are very good too. the song would have been even better though, if you would have tried to elaborate the composition a bit more. Put a break in the middle or sth.. But hey, I will listen to it again; good work. Cool little tune!

This is a groovy little ride-along! Nice production. However, I found myself waiting for a stronger hook that never came. Still, I like it cause it made me feel good and anything that makes me feel good is ok by me.

Hello, Let me start by saying that I review with the concept of how commercially viable the song is. Can you place / pitch to an established artist. The other option would be from an artistic point of view... then one either likes it or one doesn't. Nice production and the track overall feels well balanced. All the instruments are clearly defined and fit into a sonic pocket. Well Done! Hook is good and the words support the overall concept well. If it were me, I might look at the prosody (marriage to the music concept) as I think there are better words choices that would help underscore the very good hook that you have for the tune. I'm sure you already know this but it's a great thing to check out various artist you like and see how they handle prosody. For example...(whether you like them or not) One choice might be the Eagles... every word in their songs leads to the hook and the word choices are clearly painstakingly thought out. Phrasing feels slightly off to me.. The sing ability of the melody seems to be forced at times. Also the shape of the melody feels a wee bit linear for my tastes... Shape of a melody (ebb and flow) is an often overlooked concept that can help improve the song. I admit that these minor flaws I'm mentioning are nit picky, but when you're competing agains't the world every element has to be in place..... and solid. This a very good effort and I don't want to dismiss all the good things that are present in the tune. Good work and Keep Writing! RW

Good song great voice.

This is an excellent recording, it's a good song in the country/blues style that is at home in southern USA. The singers voice is characteristic of this type of music and sounds great. The musicianship is tight and again excellent for this style of music. One point I would make is that the female backing vocal didn't seem quite right and wasn't mixed in very well, a second male voice an octave higher and subtler in the mix might have been better. All in all though an excellent track confidently performed. I reckon Harmonica Steve and band would be a great live act in a large noisy bar necking a few beers!

Solid Slide Blues

Helpful

Harmonica Steve has produced a solid track, with cool sounding slide guitar, sweet harmonica fills and backing vocals which lifts the chorus together with his bluesy voice. I sense influence from Ry Cooder. It's very well produced and I can hear all the instruments clearly in the mix, well done! I really like this tune and would definitely listen to it on a road trip. For one last star I would add a bridge to change things up with perhaps vocals climbing a bit range, but overall it's already a great track.

All the musicians on this track are extremely tight with timing and performance, it's very neat and exact. The mix is also brilliant with attention to each performer. The song structure is pretty good, however there doesn't appear to be a bridge section. This could highlight the track even more, by adding impact when the chorus returns with 'Vanished in the Blue'. This section should be variably different from the rest, either by having a different chord progression, a different texture (less or more instruments), or a use of your higher vocal range, and you could also work on dynamic contrast at this point (either by use of thinning texture or adding to texture or by note velocity). It's a great traditional style country song and you should be proud; keep on performing and creating. All the best, Ele.

This song should do anything but vanish

Very nice blend of country and blues music. All the instruments fit the arrangement and with the quality mix the song sounds as professional as any. Great intro, great beat, solid verses sung with a voice perfect for the style of the tune, great harmonies on the chorus and a solid ending create a song worthy of play or any country radio station. Keep up the good work I think you guys are on the path to success.

it sounds great!!! you keep trying man and your dreams will come true. You have everything to make it.You always have to do something better than the first recording. Maybe you could sing and play something very similar but a little more brilliant rhythm. Think about it and you will get it. (this is my personal opinion). GREAT MUSIC!!!!!
