About Hellfrost

The band was formed in 2010 by David Vainer. He was keen to the musical style of scandanvial metal acts and was interested in finding his own voice in the local circuit. He recruited fellow metalheads to join his group and produced the EP Phrixus; It had just four songs on it. Dave hoped to find permanent members to play live with. But after several attempts to put together his own group he eventually asked his own brother to join the band as a drummer to fill in for gigs. In 2011 Syd Vainer agreed to join the group.
Soon after they started writing their first full length album Pagan Son. The recording process was long and drawn out as the band saw several line up changes. They auditioned several musicians but no one had a chance of sticking around. In August 2019 the release of the Extinction album gained attention in their local scene. The band started touring in their home state in support of the new release. The title track was inspired by south Florida's red tide outbreak of 2018 and the album cover features a photo of a manatee poisoned by the red tide. In June 2020 Gabriel Gozainy (ex- Perdition Temple) joined the band as a drummer and Syd Vainer switched over to bass. Hellfrost is currently working on their as of yet untitled follow up to Extinction
