It doesn't take much more
A nice piece of rock'n'roll music, pure and naked yet with just an undistorted electric guitar and a bass line beneath. All I'm missing is a beat, a drumset, just bass drum and snare and a bit of a hihat. This could add drive and intensity to the song. The rest I would just leave as it is, including the whistling. This is an often underestimated possibility for singers and guitar players to add some sort of instrumental solo parts to a song. Instead of using these horrible kazoo sounds or fighting with a harp and all the needed hardware, whistling is easy to do and to catch just with the stage mike. Of course some people are good whistlers and some others are not. You're doing a good job here. The melody is catchy and fits perfectly to the atmosphere of the song. It doesn't take much more!

Snappy groove
guitar has a snappy groove and the singer has it ,skip the whisling save that for the violin or flute ,seems a bit flat maybe reverb on the whistle would solve that,,But I do really like the song makes me feel good and thats means its a winner. What I really like about it is ,its one guy bringing alls he got all the way down to the finish line

Hi Just Pup. I have listened to your song and it is nice on the ears . It's a cheerful song that brought a little joy listening to it. I'm not sure you should change anything except maybe adding drums and bass for a swinging rythme but besides that it's a great tune.

Happy Whistler review
WRITING as I listen. The whistles are SLIGHTLY out of tune. Nice feel, I like the voice here, the country/roots quality. Put to rock guitars. Interesting meld of rockabilly and Lou Reed or something for me! Maybe a weird reference combo to come out of my mouth. I am reminded of Buddy Holly (and the whole genre), a bit, but ALSO of a song called "What's Good" by Lou Reed. It's the backing track that reminds me of this the most...maybe even the whistle, though there isn't one in the song. I need a second listen for the lyrics here. (side note: the whistles are in tune much better at the end, but a happy whistler has no cares of this thing!) Love the part where the words are sung in the first verse--I can't explaaaiinn...well I'm singin'...where explain is held out. I'm digging the vocal yodel that happens at the end of the note there. This is the stuff I love...oh this happens in more of the chorus I hear, as it's something I hear more than one time. Pretty catchy. I'm terrible at that catchy thing, so good on you!

Hi Happy Whistler, thankx for asking me to review your song. Well, I must say that the intro threw me, I thought that I was about hear a new version of I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman. But then the vocals started, and the song was away. I liked the beat, and the crisp and to the point guitar playing. Your vocals are very much in the Dylan vein, inflection and deliverance wise - great to my ears. Having a whistling solo in a song is very unique, very different to guitar, but not something that you would be able to do too often, other than around a campfire where it would work wonders. All in all I really liked this song, especially for it's unique difference in presentation with the whistling and the well delivered vocals. Great stuff.

Happy Whistler Review By Peter Newton
This is a tune. A beautiful bluesy riff with a tight rocking Stones quality. Great lyrics that keep you interested, you'll be whistling pretty sharpish. The quality of the recording is great and to be honest I'm glad it's not a full band song. It keeps it humble and straight which is sadly lacking in this copy and paste world. A good tune should always sound good with a singer and a guitar and this does. First class !

Impressive
Another stellar effort .... song writing here is close to perfect .... I love the absolute minimal arrangement. Really lets the lyrics live up front ....Guitar as clean as it gets .... sounds overall top quality studio recorded ...... this is marketable just as it was captured. nice song
Hi. Nice song. The combination of singing and whistling is really nice. The guitar really sounds fresh. Concerning the lyrics, I have the impression that you're telling an interesting story; that's good. I wonder if you've ever listened to some Irish folk yet, when you're telling a story in your song it's really based upon an old artistic tradition of singer-songwriting... It's a pity though you have no recording with other instruments added. It could really become something that may be worthy of being played on the radio. Also try, when you're writing a song, to put an elaborated bridge in the middle, don't underestimate the value of a well-thought-of and elaborated composition. It contains that nuance that makes the song really stick in your head. But, to conclude, your song sounds fresh, Original and optimistic. Keep playing ! Pieter B. from Ghent, Belgium. You aint just whistling Dixie son
I probably shouldn't like this but I do. If this was me? I'd strip this down one step further and do this song with an acoustic guitar. I think that would bring more of the whistling into play. I like the quality of your voice. I can hear a little Dylan in there, which in my book, is always a good thing. This was quirky for sure, not cookie cutter, and I like those kinda songs. For what it's worth coming from me? A very good song that I honestly enjoyed~

Happy whistler
It's an interesting sound, it's catchy. It's has a nice tone. It's got one of those kick back around a campfire vibes. Sitting around with a guitar and just feeling the air. I feel the tune has a story to tell. A good one :-)

Whistling song
Flat whistling in places but that can be adjusted in your recording program with your mixing engineer. I've never heard a song with so much whistling. Perhaps because of that it will be a novelty to DJs and they will play it heaps! I would get it mastered after a proper mix.

Like the voice of Mick Jagger
Nice vocal and a song that carries a lot of possibilities. Simple but intelligent. I would really like a harmonica or maybe accordion on this charming little tune. Nice and in the same way a Little melancholy

Energy
I like how it is now, sounds like its missing some energy, whether it's drums added in or more energy with the vocals . if that's u playing the guitar give yourself a solo in there too. Yea just more attitude and energy

Good start
A great start to the song Happy Whistler with the whistling nice vocals and pleasant guitar playing i would keep the basic tracks and add some real drums and a solid bass line to make the song grove a little lead guitar and some background vocals and you would have a great song ready for some radio air play

folk of a dfiferent style
Listen it only takes a little time - a modern day Bob Dylan.. Takes a little time to get used to hearing a story type song in these days of overcoming Hip Hop same song Same verse type songs. Keep on Keeping on!

pleasant
good sound, easy e pleasant to listen ,funny whistle. I like this song, the voice seem a little push in some moments, and I would have preferred a more defined final, but overall I consider it good job.

Sounds fire
Nice introduction with the whistling. I know what you mean about not being mastered but you have to remember we think like that because we know it can sound better but to Listeners they are clueless about a lot of things we artist are aware of. The track sound very good bro.

similar soudiing dude!
Hey, I wanted to leave you a bit of feedback on your song, and I apologise in advance because there is a lot of crap on N1M,but in all honesty my dad is a huge niel diamond fan like he listens to it all the time when we are the car going food shopping, and not trying to blow smoke up your ass but your voice kinda reminds me of him a bit,its got that rustic, husky, country feel to it,i think it sounds really good, and i love the guitar backing aswell, the only bit im not to sure on is the whistling I think if would need more depth and umph to it if that makes sense, you definitely have talent, and your voice is very unique,my advice (this feels so bloody weird as im only a youngin ) is focus on songs that bring out that really gravelly tone of your voice a simple guitar backing like this is perfect because theres not a lot that takes your attention away form the vocals so when you listen you really feel something instead of having it drowned out by a pointless backing tack! you want to stay ahead of the curve as much as possible,as it keeps a creative fresh vibe on all new songs you make, standing out will get you noticed,so stay as unpredictable as possible! keep working hard mate, Gooday!

Well Whistled
With a great use of chord voicings in a standard progression (always a good thing) and a happily moving bass line attached to a clever subject matter, this song made me smile. This being said, I wanted the whistling do be mastered (saw your note) to bring its otherwise quality sound and tone more to bare with the other instruments. It deserves to be heard! Fun song, give 'em what they want...a very slight polish, just enough for folks not to know ya did. Well done and thanks for sharing it.
