About Hous_da_beast
Hailing from Jamaica, Queens 40 projects, my love for Hip Hop started in high school. I loved being around the cyphers wanting to jump in but I did not have the confidence enough to rap in front of people. So I stuck to practicing by listening and watching other rappers like Biggie, Jay Z, Nas and Cannabis. I would start by writing down there lyrics memorizing the words to perfection then I would just perform for myself in my room. This turned into me writing my own lyrics which eventually led to me breaking out of my shell. I no longer cared what people thought any cypher I attacked it like a beast.
After high school I got my first taste of the studio from Sean Conn from Queens, NY. Sean taught me how to formulate songs with verses and hooks. The name Hous Da Beast was given to me around the hood where I grew up. After school, at Junior High School 231 which they called the kage standing at 6'5" 300 lbs at the time. House was for my large size and Beast was for the way I handled myself on the mic. Later on Sean and I recorded a song called the Running Man which hit various mix tapes throughout the city. After hearing my self and seeing myself in a music video, I knew this was what I wanted to do. The video was shot and directed by Troy Jones of (spot-TV) Once you get bit you just can't quit.
I later participated in an event called the rapathon which took place in Harlem, NYC where 10 groups of 10 rappers would break the Guinness book of world records for a 24 hour non stop cypher and every year we would break the record adding on another hour for the world record. I participated in the rapathon for 2years out of the 5years it was running. Besides the rapathon I performed at several open mics around the NYC area places like Club Pyramid to End of the Week (EOW) this is where I truly experienced the true essence of hip hop which just solidified my love for the culture. I dedicated myself to making more music.
I collaborated with a lot of artist from Queens, Sean Conn, Mike Myers, Xyle, Kyah Baby and Sandman from Bad Company. The artist Sonny Black from Queens (RIP) was my favorite MC and my biggest influence. He was with my sister, my niece's father. I would sit there and listen to him write and spit all night long. Sometimes he would leave his rhyme book and I would sit there for hours reading through the pages. I know now that he set me on this path.
In 2017 I recorded and released my first solo single called "Put In That Work" produced by 101 Da Exclusive Mixed by Michael Ashby and Mastered by DJ Evil Dee. I also recorded a song called "Bro Shots" on up and coming Makeba Mooncycle project with Prodigal Sunn, Justice and Holy Smokes. My goal is to release new music every month, I will also be developing my own clothing line. There may not be enough room in the Hous but the Universe is a big place!
