About Jackie Guy
For Jackie Guy, five-time Saskatchewan Country Music Association award nominee, music has never been a choice but rather a calling. Guy’s father was instrumental in encouraging her passion for music, purchasing her first bass guitar while she was in the fifth grade. Her great experience with the family band Young Country motivated her to initiate the band Long Shot while in university, and then to seek out a solo career following marriage and motherhood.
Having a successful career as a physiotherapist and raising seven children did not stop Guy from finding time to pen every song on the albums Right Where I Wanna Be, My Red Guitar, and her recently released third effort, I Did It Anyway. Her unique sound is a sonic blend of Bonnie Tyler, Kelly Willis and Shania Twain.
Guy’s more notable opportunities include Master of Ceremonies duties at performances for legends Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan, a coveted opening spot for Sawyer Brown and Jess Moskaluke, and the creation of memorable music videos such as “Bridges”, shot in Nashville, Tennessee with Dean Miller, son of country music icon Roger Miller and the colourful, vintage-themed “A Lot Like Me”.
Jackie prides herself on casting friends and family in her music videos since “it’s all about making memories with the ones you love.” In late 2019, she released “I Did It Anyway”, the title track off her third album, which was accompanied by a new video.
On September 7, Jackie will release a brand new single to radio called "Your Shirt". “As a lover of sad songs, I really connected with this one. We can all relate to the end of a relationship. Only time can heal the heart and sometimes that can feel like an eternity."
