Mrs. Jackie Jackie Jackie!!! This song right here... You got one!!! This melody on the hook (chorus) caught me, then kept me. I was dozing off prior to listening to your song. Then I said let me listen to one more song and it was yours, "I Am Who I Am". I'm still hearing it in my mind. Now as I listen to it, I'm guessing this is a reference vocal correct? Because I'm hearing some pitchy areas. They vocals can use a lil more feel to them as well. Meaning the way they are now sounds like it's not sung with feeling. The lead is sounding kind of like how you would sound if you're practicing and just running down the lines and the melody.. Like a " fire drill" as an analogy or practicing before a show. Again this is a great song. Don't think I'm being harsh here. I'm just being honest, "100" with you. And this is only my opinion. I like the song a lot! I wish I was able to Produce or Co-produce this one. I would love to be a part of this song. The "open space" after the first verse kind of puzzled me also. Not sure if it was something you had in mind there that wasn't recorded yet or something??? I would fix that. The music is ok. It works. But it needs to be mixed. Which takes me back to what I had mentioned earlier with saying "this has to be a reference recording". Because even your vocals need mixing. I'm thinking back now to the beginning of the song. Your vocals seemed really loud and lots of reverb. I have the feeling this is why you sang it this way. Like you are holding back some of your power and vocal ability so that it's not over powering the music. If you had turned the vocals down, you could push your vocals out more with feeling, emphasis etc. Maybe your headphones were too loud as well (if you were recording while wearing headphones). It may have been recorded using a portable recording machine maybe? Hmm, doesn't matter if it's a reference vocal to shop to labels, artists and publishing companies if you're trying to get the song picked up. I strongly encourage you to try that with this song. Not saying you can't re-record it yourself to make it work though. Just open up to some other options with this one instead of just "sitting on it". Very nice ballard track.laid back and very relaxed story. Reality type song,need to go up and do strong vibes in the medley. I like high pitch singing with the repeat performance. makes the song different and yours. Could be a hit over all, a song style that's different, the music world need more of this.
