New song on N1M and new album on the way

Hi all,

Just wanted to touch base and see how everybody is coping with social isolation! It's a bit weird for me, as for other musicians, from the top of the tree on down. All live performances cancelled, including one my indie band The Idea of Light had last Sunday and a few solo ones I had coming up.

The Hillbilly Hoot (a live open mike on community radio station 3D in Adelaide) is no longer live, with people recording live performances to be aired in the usual time slot of Monday 8 - 9 pm (Australian Central Summer Time). I've recorded live videos in my living room of a couple of new songs and will put them on my Facebook page soon; just search @JRobinsSolo on Facebook to check them out. I'll also put them on my YouTube channel.

In the meantime, I'm checking out living room performances from some favourite artists of mine: Elvis Costello and Richard Thompson are but two.

At the moment, my gig at the Wheatsheaf in Adelaide on 4 September is still on, and hopefully it will stay that way. I'll keep you posted.

Keep safe everybody; remember, we may be distant now, but when this is all over, we can come back together again around music and with joy!

For those in Adelaide, I'll be playing at the Mr V Stage at the Semaphore Music Festival on Saturday 5 October at 2 pm. Swing on by and catch the set, if you're around the place, and if you haven't got your copy yet, get into Mr V and snap one up. Also playing that afternoon are the wonder Steve O'Malley of Saucermen fame, and Nick from the Molting Vultures.

Hi all,

I've been pretty quiet lately because I've been putting the finishing touches to my forthcoming album, 'Notes'. I can now tell you it's done! It's off at the factory being manufactured, and will be released both physically and online on Sunday 14 April.

We're launching it with the full band that played on the record at the lovely Hotel Metro on Grote Street, starting mid-afternoon, so if you're in Adelaide on that day, why not drop in, hear the songs live, and pick up a copy!

Also, the second single from the album, 'Cheating Moon', is now available on CD Baby and all streaming services. I'll be getting it up on Bandcamp in the next day or so, so why not head over there and download a copy! I've attached it to this message, so have a listen and let me know what you think.

Finally (phew! Just like buses, eh; no news for ages, then a whole pile comes at once!), I'll be at the gorgeous, shiny Lomond Hotel in East Brunswick, Melbourne next Wednesday night to play a solo set. I'm on at 8.15 pm, so if you're in town, why not drop down! Just grab the 96 train and jump off at the end of the line.
