About Jacog
New Orleanian native Jacog, is known as one of the early pioneers of Gospel-Rap and has the war scars to prove it. Her 'project roots' and strong southern drawl-yat flow mixed with sing-rap caused a lot of controversy in the Southern Baptist churches in which she was a devoted member. Jacog has been ousted from many congregations because of her introversion of hymns and faith dialect in music. Through her testimony, her story is told in the only way she knew how--through her life experiences as a believer. Often at times she was rejected by the church, because in the past, as a child, 'rap' was 'devil's music' they'd say. Her rejection and dismissal from the church never stopped her from pressing forward. Jacog is at it again; speaking the truth through all the masses, and she is now taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the streets.
Jacog wanted to make a better life for herself so she moved from New Orleans to Milwaukee and decided to pursue her passion in music. Due to her career change in the medical field as an Autopheresis-C Phlebotomist, she enrolled in college majoring in Pre-Med Biology instead. Although she left her music dormant for some time, her passion was again ignited when she met the singer and music producer, Dwayne "Silky D" Sullivan. In 2000, Jacog recorded her first single "The Ghetti," which got the attention of Milwaukee's 103.7 Kiss FM radio personality JoJo Martinez. Jacog was then asked to perform her single at the station's club live. "The Ghetti" grew some local attention to the masses, but Jacog was actively fighting a spiritual battle. While recording her first independent album, she wrestled with the Spirit of the Lord. He spoke to her and told her that she couldn't serve two masters-the world and HIM, so the name "Jacog Phebe" meaning "God Speaks" was born.
Shortly after her spiritual encounter, Jacog met music producer Andrew Craig and went on to record her first EP, "The Sinner's Prayer." Although her project was incomplete, "The Sinner's Prayer" was aired on the Christian Radio Station, WJYI Joy 1340 am. Jacog now resides in New Jersey and is currently working on her first Independent Gospel Rap Album. She has over 30 years of experience in songwriting and 19 years in music production. She is now starting to add and develop new talented local artists. In 2017, Jacog received her Music Production Associates Degree and shortly afterwards founded Faith2Faith Records.
