About Jai One

With a distinctive voice and pure lyricism Jai One is a standout among the contemporary hip-hop community. Jai One's relentless attitude toward the quality of his work and its continued originality and improvement has been echoed in his rise in the hip-hop world.

Jai One's journey into the world of music began in the late 90’s when his close friend began to produce music and Jai One fell in love with writing his on songs and music. Studying such legendary hip-hop pioneers as Warren G, Method Man, Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube to name a few, Jai One's distinctive style of expression began to take shape. After years of fine-tuning his skills, Jai One began battling other emcees and building a reputation for his slick delivery and hardcore lyrics.

In 2004, Jai One decided to team up with AC9 Studios to record the mixtape Da Freshman. Jai One spent the next year and a half promoting the album and networking with producers and artists throughout southern California, Philadelphia and New York whom he soon gained notoriety among for his creative songwriting skills and lyrics.

As time went on Jai One and his best friend Lil Mac(Younger brother of Warren G) formed a group called West Coast Gunnaz. During this time Jai One was able to spend lots of time in the studio with Warren G, Nate Dogg and Bishop Lamont just watching and learning how they work in the studio and put records and albums together. Jai One gained quite a bit of knowledge during that time and applies that to his music and work today. After multiple records recorded and shows performed locally around Long Beach and Orange County, and a significant fan base, the West Coast Gunnaz disbanded forcing Jai One to contemplate which way to take his career. In the void left by the breakup of the West Coast Gunnaz, Jai One honed his artist skills even more and became a solid solo artist.

In 2007, Jai One's popular single titled So Sexy ft Marc Griffin(Lead Singer of the 2AM Club) was featured on Dj Skee's protege from Australia Dj Rush's SPADER Mixtape which featured songs from Tyga,Lil Wayne,Gym Class Hero's,Jezzy, Jada Kiss and more.

Feeling it was time to seriously pursue a solo career, Jai One virtually disappeared from the music scene to perfect his debut album.

In 2013, Jai One launched his own imprint Black Shine Music Group. Jai One has also landed a brand new distribution deal with Empire Distribution. Jai One was also featured in the OneWest Magazine in a two page spread interview.

In 2014, Jai One spent the year recording and finalizing his debut album Roller Coaster Hustle which is to be released early 2015!
