Reason to Smile
I'm super, nerd-ily proud of my new song "Reason to Smile". The lyrics started out as a stand up act,
"I'm like Alvin & the Chipmunks – no one seems to like me."
lololol. I thought they were all funny, but then I put them to music, and it's quite depressing, lol.
However, my pride in the lyrics hasn't changed. I just want to explain - a lot of people have never heard of the short story/book/movie "Flowers for Algernon". This is the Wikipedia description:
"Algernon is a laboratory mouse who has undergone surgery to increase his intelligence by artificial means. The story is told by a series of progress reports written by Charlie Gordon, the first human test subject for the surgery, and it touches upon many different ethical and moral themes such as the treatment of the mentally disabled."
Also, the famous line, "Heavy is the head that wears the crown" is from King Henry IV, Part II. It's always misquoted. The real line is "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown". But my head is so heavy sometimes, it felt fitting.
I LIKE LYRICS. :D
