Thanks To Everyone Who’s Listened!

Greetings listeners, thanks for playing my music. I'm going thru a major change and hope to be recording soon.

In 1984 I was blindsided while on my motorcycle, I had a Near-Death-Experience that changed my life. Miraculously I survived and my shattered leg was saved. I developed a bone disease in my hip said to be inoperable until it was finally removed last May. I'm now recovering from a total knee replacement, which also was said to be impossible for years.

As soon as possible I plan to record and launch a live show. After surviving the accident I was living a second life. Soon I'll be walking again, without pain so I say my third life is just beginning. It will be dedicated to music and I'm recording songs that tell the whole story, returning to my Rock and Blues roots. I hope you'll enjoy them.

Greetings Friends and Supporters!

I hope this finds you all well, happy and enjoying the Holidays! Just wanted to send you all Best Wishes for 2019 and let you know that we're moving to Apache Junction Arizona - and planning shows throughout the Phoenix and Mesa areas. If you happen to be from out that way, please let me know! Rather than airports and hotels for the larger dates, we purchased a beautiful travel trailer so we'll get to see 13 states on the journey from New Hampshire. We've heard nothing but great things about the art and music scene there and we're very tired of the long cold winters and travelling so far for just small club gigs.

We're also planning to launch an all new Live Streaming Show from various locations out west called "Native Grooves." With a lot of Native American in my family tree, it feels like we're going home rather than away. The trailer also makes a great recording studio and I've been working on several new songs that will be released on a project called "Trailer Tracks." I'll keep you up to date and if you're live or vacation in Arizona please let me know!

Greetings All! Thanks for all the support and encouragement you've given me, I'm truly thankful. I'm kicking off a return to performing live in New England Friday July 7th in Downtown Rochester, NH at the fabulous "Revolution Taproom & Grill" and joining Chakulla & The Hunger Bus July 15h and 16th at The Plymouth Harbor Fest in historic Pilgrim Park, Plymouth MA. I'm also back in the studio recording several new songs, hoping to release my latest solo album this fall.

I hope this finds you well, happy and enjoying the wonderful Independent Music on N1M! I'm excited to announce that this coming Saturday, April 23rd at 8:30pm CST - I'll be appearing live on the "Nashville Side Streets" show - a worldwide, HD broadcast you can catch online at:

This is a wonderful show highlighting Independent Artists every week for 45 minutes or more, following each song the host Ronnie Dean, asks the performers brief questions about the song. Viewers can text, tweet and email questions they'd like him to ask and he always uses a few. If you like my music, this is a rare opportunity to learn more about my career in music and my songwriting. Episodes are recorded and saved on the site so if you can't catch live, you can visit the site anytime after the performance and tune it in. For several reasons I've been unable to perform out regularly for nearly two years, that recently changed and this is a fabulous way for me to begin my comeback to full time performing. I've been collaborating with fellow N1M Artist, Errol Wayne - a fabulous Singer/Songwriter and I'm happy to say he'll be joining me and playing a few of his tunes. It's the first public appearance of a new musical duo that will be releasing an album and performing together live this summer as "Hayford N Wayne" - watch for a new N1M page with that title.

Recently a big bonus was added as we were booked to perform at the famous "Sam's Jam" Songwriter Showcase - right on Music Row, Weds. the 27th! It's hard to imagine a better way to comeback and launch a new act other than the first two performances in Nashville. We'll be there for a week and I know many songwriters and performers there, so there won't be a dull moment! We'll be filming our adventure which will also include a trip to Memphis where I'll have an opportunity to play some blues with a smoking hot band - followed by a visit to Graceland. So there will be many new photos on my N1M page and when we return we'll be right in the studio so brand new songs will be coming as well!

If you do catch the show, I hope you'll let me know - honest constructive criticism is welcome! The show's producer as well as a publisher and label rep caught my songs "Hear Him Sing" and "Bad Attitude" when both were in the top 5 on N1M charts and all called me. The only offer I accepted so far was to appear on the live broadcast, however I will be meeting with several industry reps while there and my fingers are crossed as there's serious interest in several of my songs. Last time I attached "Hear Him SIng" so I was going to attach another until I discovered there's over 400 new subscribers. To those of you who got my last message, I apologize for attaching the same song but it seems appropriate for me to send the song that landed me this gig to all those new to the list.

First off, I'm truly thankful to all of you for the support and inspiration you've given me. You're plays, shares and recommendations have helped open doors to new opportunities for myself and other Independent Artists on N1M. You're helping bring about major changes in the music industry that are long overdue. Keep spreading the word about Indie Music!

Radio is still the #1 way musicians develop a following, especially prior to an album release. N1M has established a fabulous platform for listeners, musicians, labels and producers looking for artists, songs or both. During the 5 weeks I had the #1 Classic Rock song on N1M, I was contacted by 3 producers, a rep from Sony Records and an invitation to showcase at Hard Rock Cafe Boston. I have all of you to thank for these opportunities and I'm truly grateful to all of you.

The one offer I've accepted didn't come because of the #1 song, it was "Hear Him Sing" that got me invited to appear on Nashville Side Streets - a live TV show from Nashville, Saturday March 26th at 8:30 CST. The producer is a great musician himself and he called me after hearing that song. As listener's of Indie Music I highly recommend watching this show, not just when I'm on it. I'll mention it again in a message when time is drawing near. They're shining a light on Independent Artists and excellent songwriters - and songwriters are the heart of all music. I'm looking forward to visiting Nashville again and it's brought to mind how much I learned about the business the first time I was there many years ago. Songwriters are the unsung yet often sung hero's in the business - especially in Country Music. Fans often take it for granted that stars write all their songs when in reality, very few are both songwriters and performers. There are true "Triple Threats," as they're called, meaning writer, instrument player and singer in that genre however they're few and far between, Jeffrey Steele is the best example I know. Garth Brooks is a prominent example of the misunderstanding, he'd never publicly admit that he didn't write the songs that made him a star. Yes he writes some songs, however all the major hits he's had were written or co-written by someone else, primarily Kim Williams or his daughter Amanda Williams. Another prominent example is the smash hit, "I Hope You Dance," by Lee Ann Womack, that song was written by one of the most prolific hit songwriters in business; Tia Sillers. The song "There's Your Trouble" helped put the Dixie Chicks on the musical map, Tia wrote that along with her husband Mark Selby - who's one of the greatest Blues players working today. Together they also wrote nearly every song Kenny Wayne Shepherd has recorded -- especially the hits such as "Blue On Black." They've written dozens of songs on the Country Charts. It goes to show that a great song can be a hit in more than one genre and often is.

I mention all of this because my song "Hear Him Sing" is both a true, heart on the sleeve story and a tribute to my favorite songwriter John Hiatt, who's a true triple threat and great performer who has written many songs that became huge hits when recorded by someone else. Over 100 artists have covered his songs, including Willie Nelson. "Thing Called Love," "Riding With The King," "Feels Like Rain," "Through Your Hands" are a few examples. He also wrote the most popular wedding song in the world "Have A Little Faith In Me." The lyrics of "Hear Him Sing" include the title of at least one Hiatt song in every verse. I was tipping my cap to one of the greatest writers of his generation. It's drawn interest from producers looking for songs in Nashville in the past and now it's gotten me an appearance on a worldwide TV broadcast. I'm truly grateful to you all and encourage you to keep turning people on to Indie Music - including the incredible Tom Dean who produced, played acoustic guitar licks and sang the harmonies on this song. He's an amazing talent that one magazine called "simply one of the finest songwriters walking this earth." Check him out and tell him Jeff sent you!

I hope 2016 is finding you all well, happy and enjoying Indie Music! I'm truly thankful for the support you've given me, your plays, shares and recommendations lead to "Bad Attitude" being the #1 Classic Rock Song in the entire US - 5 consecutive weeks. This has opened new doors for me, which I'll tell you more about next time, now I'd like to hug all of you!

I don't usually do this, because I'm a perfectionist in the studio. However I've attached a rough live studio cut of "Faster Gun" which I plan to fully produce for my next album. Your opinions and thoughts will be greatly appreciated, it's certainly a work in progress and I am curious to hear what you may make of this song - rough though it is. It was written by Rex Fowler, a fantastic writer from Aztec Two-Step - a very popular duo who I've had the honor of opening for a couple times. If you like "Hear Him Sing" or this rough cut Two-Step is an act worth looking into.
