Song Reviews

Franks & No Beans? Well for one thing, they have a great name and great art concept. This song is the signature of their Metal disobedience, breaking the mold, conspiring to be original and nasty. Through out this tune, I felt my adrenaline pump, like in my youth while attending a crazy headbanging party listening to the Sex Pistols. Contrast? That is the statement from this band, challenging the mundane, generic and old fatigued Metal. Solid percussion, elating guitars leads, solid rhythm section, iced by great raw vocals. Perhaps to harsh? Nah! A great composition of madness!

Strong entry for Heavy Rock/Classic Metal
Franks & No Beans offers a strong song for Heavy and Classic Metal with "The Dog". Solid rhythm section and gruff vocals are driving throughout the song with a great solo that fits in the space nicely. Hard driving drums set the mood, and the heavy guitars crack you over the head as the solo rips!

Not Sure.
Not sure what i thought of this song at first. I was not a big fan of the singer, but being a singer myself, I know some people don't like my vocals either. I just kept listening because the guitar line was pretty good. Then all the sudden it clicked and I heard how talented this guitarist is. What a pro metal guitar solo. Amazing, lightning fast with a great melody. over all, a very good musical composition. Looking forward to hearing more from these guys!

Very Interesting
Did not know what to expect, but cool. Elements of older Rock, but some up to date things too. This is very heavy, and that makes for good head banging. Great guitar work and sound. You can hear all parts well, which is really good. Not sure about the vocals, but don't mean that as a cut, just reminds me of something...that is good. Way to go guys, keep rocking! Looking forward to more. Sincerely Edward Westbrook (Atomic Energy Society)

yes
the dog review. this song is a strictly Metal piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in Metal style as I said everything recalls the Metal genre. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a Metal piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job

Powerful angry anthem
I like the drive and energy of this song and can see it being sung as a war chant against an enemy as a sustained psychological attack prior to battle it would work really well. Listening to the words it appears the song is aimed at a woman who has caused hurt. Like most men I have been dumped by several women, who have philandered around and dumped me for somebody else, so I totally get the anger and hurt that the song alludes to The fact is most women have an order of magnitude of dating options over us men and frequently take them. Lately, the ability of man to even approach a women for the first time, can be seen by some manipulative women as stalking. So I'm concerned that you will immediately alienate half your audience if you condone violence against any woman. The dualism here being that if a man threatens another man that's perfectly ok - The problem for us men is that women that don't even know each other can and do band together rapidly through their own gossip networks and social media, especially if they see a fellow female being attacked and there is man to take down in the process. Look at the demise of Harvey Weinstein, regardless of the facts of his case, he was 'taken down' by a very determined band of sisters. As a composer and musician myself I don't want to see you taken down. Way better to get these sisters onside and double your audience appeal. I can see this song becoming a military standard if the words were directed against their despicable enemy. Love the barking although perhaps add at lot of snarling in there too. Barking can show that a dog is scared rather than aggressive, however a snarling dog usually means it's really angry and means business.Perhaps you could retitle the song 'Attack Dog' or 'Mess not with this Mutt'. Have a listen to The Sane Axemen's song 'Grunt and Snarl' This song was performed to a live audience and were encouraged to Grunt and Snarl along, People that weren't of a metal bent loved it and joined in. It drew in a number of people who previously disliked any genre of metal music. Anyways Dudes. Keep up the good work. Sucess in what you do, is the best revenge strategy of all.

great sound! love the guitars! solid!
dig the beat! great drum work, very nice. I like how the guitars work their way in at the start, each one has it own distortion character. the vocals are cleanly recorded and understandable. I'd like the bass to have 6db more level to it. I'd pan the drums different, certain cymbals on different left and right channels to give motion to it. the drums I'd add another 3db to them. I'd also pan the vocals to bounce around the room. the overall mix works well.

Direct and simple riffs
The bass line leads the whole song. Very groovy and weel matched with the drums. Guitars are a little too low of volume and the quality of the vocal track (not the singing but the sound) imho it’s too poor for this song.

Excellent doggone it!
I like the sudden energy that flows through the entire song! I image a bulldog singer with a band of pitbulls except for raw German Shepherd guitar player! This song really gets a person up from the chair. Your lyrics are good and I like the arrangement and tune of your song. This was a fun song to listen and probably to watch in a live setting. I bet you boys are wild live and this song reflects a wild and hilarious band persona. Keep up the good work boys. FANTASTIC!

GREAT HOOK
FRANKS & NO BEANS -The Dog has a great hook that keeps interested from start to finish. Its rock/metal at its finest. Its dirty, nasty and raw and most importantly it has attitude. If you like thrash or hardcore/punk this track is for you.

Better than Danzig
Oh wow, what an awesome song! In tradition of early Rock/Heavy Rock/Metal/ Punkrock in die 80's, Franks and no beans are rocking as its finest. Great voice, gargled with whiskey, and a very awesome guitar solo play. I love the song! The guys are more original and appealing than other comparable bands, for example Danzig. It's my third reviews for Franks and no Beans: I think, it's still the best song so far! Congratulations!

Heavy
This is old school! This reminds me of some of my favorite old school metal...a good tempo, good musicianship. A solid tune, people will move in the pit, that's for sure. Not much i can say about the lyrical content, but whatever...it is what it is. They get your point across. Nice guitar solo. I am a fan of the production. Not overly produced, but simple and effective. This is garage metal at it's finest.

A nice adventure...
Very interesting sound, keeps me reminded of the early years of metal, but with a more pleasant and original sound production. All in all a really good performance and the song writing is in metal terms "ass kickin"! This is real good stuff here for people who enjoy the bit more alternative metal passion. I like the originality of that sound, but leaves the roots uncovered and one may find parallels to bigger acts. Keep on rocking!

The Dog
Listening to this song, its got allot of character. I like the beat, and the solo guitar. This song would be good for a TV series opening. All in all, its got potential and with a little more work in the studio could be an great tune..
