The name Joeknuckle hambone came from Alistair Hafer and Donald Dean back in the day when we were in a band called high voltage
We would sit around sometime before or after rehearsal and just vibe and talk about different musical styles some old and some new and that's how hambone came to be and later on we would be busting on one another and someone said you're just an old Joe knuckle
Not to be outdone someone added Joe knuckle hambone and that was that
Sometime later after the band had broken up Dean and I would always talk about playing our own music Dean was still playing with other people and I was just at home working on original ideas so I wanted to start A project of all the grooves that Dean and I have played over the years and I wanted to find a name that would tie it all together and I thought back to the name that we joked about Joe knuckle hambone and I thought perfect.
we both enjoy and appreciate a wide variety of music styles from yesterday all the way through today
But Our core is based off of gospel soul and rhythm and blues with a little of everything else mixed in
Although we like the same styles of music we like different parts of the same music at different times
For example if we're working on a tune I may hear a guitar and drums Dean may hear the bass and a vocal but they all come together because we hear the same tune
