Life Is An Adventure

Joe hits this one out the park from the 1st bar. Intrigue from the smooth, subtle guitar intro followed by doubled vocal gives us the sweetness we desire. It's a mellow acoustic song that reminds me of sunset sessions with a good beer and then just as you think "this is cool", boom ! along comes a gentle accompaniment that lifts the track to a chill-out blazer that would melt anyones ice-cream. Brilliant stuff ! Peter T Newton

A good job

Clean, quiet and not a bit exhausting. In the turmoil of all music - which you will meet and bump into, a beautiful song! Harmonious and well tuned ... Fine Such songs should be shared more often publicly!

Well recorded and clear voice, but more folk-rock genre than smooth jazz

The first thing that struck me was the excellent sound quality of the vocal and guitar tracks - very crisp and textured without being over produced. I agree with a previous reviewer ("America Revisited") that the song is reminiscent of that era, it reminds me of "Stormy" - not necessarily a bad thing. Some harmonies might have helped on the chorus. I think folk-rock would be a more accurate description of this genre rather than smooth jazz.

Clean and Fresh...

Hi Joe, I am pleased to say that this is a 'refreshing' and bright sound you are sharing with us. To me it has the guitar feel that the 80's group AMERICA had so much success. Your vocals are straight ahead and gave me the recollection of Gordon Lightfoot. Although it is an 'ultra-light' gem...I could have enjoyed a bit more instrumentation...perhaps a little percussion or bass guitar following your lead. All in all...love ya' work. Bmore

Warmth and Positivity

This is an enormously warm and bright song. The vocals are bright and present, so the listener is alert and receptive. The harmonies are perfect, they support the lead vocalists message, tone and vibrancy. The instruments are positioned perfectly behind the lead vocal track. Guitar solos add to rather than immerse the songs message. The recording levels are perfect! I had to listen twice, just lovely ???? Michael

Beautiful song that plays Joe Meyer, also helps his voice very nice and guitar, simple but elegant. With little makes a great song, it shows that it is not necessary to recharge much, although the song when they enter all the instruments they win, and they do it of smooth way, without stridencies, seems to me a very good song and interpreted with much pleasure.

America Revisited

This is an overall soft, feel good little tune with a nice, ambient-like flow to it... This two chord, major 7 progression always makes me think of marshmallow clouds, a warm ocean breeze, and tan lines... I don't believe it's a wrap like it is though... Several standard song rules went out the window with this one... It's a nice start but, needs a rewrite... The opening vocal should start in less than the first 20 seconds, 15 is preferable... Lyrics tell a story but, aren't conversational... Hook came in way too late to be the effective kicker for the song... Try not to use long words with too many syllables unless they match the meter of the lines... More often than not, it's better to "infer" a meaning in a phrase than spell it out... Use the lead over marginally until you have a lead break and, for a two chord progression, long song, it needs to make a memorable sentence than ramble improv... Those are just a few things that stood out to me... Vocally, you have a unique voice which, might sound better even, if you'll use a harmony backing with it on the ends of the lines... America's, Horse With No Name has a flavor like this song but, closer it sounds like Joe Stampley and, the Uniques doing Gary Marsden's, Don't Let The Sun, Catch You Crying... Take a listen to both those tunes before you set in to redo this one... Good luck with it... Doug

Nice song Life is and Adventure

I think the song is really a good song written in the singer songwriter format. I like the harmonies on the vocals. i worked with David Crosby for 5 years so I kept wanting the song to go to other chords. I remember Crosby saying that in the first minute of a song you have to get to the hook so I felt the intro a little long. I think that if you go to another chord progression and then back to the main focus it will lift this song up a lot. I liked it and listened all the way through a few times. Its cute and could do more!!! A for effort and the title is great...

70''s nostalgia in 2017

Meyer's voice is a classic voice that truly commands a loyal audience. Soothing and reflective on, "Life is an Adventure", Meyer's takes you back to the 1970's. Reminding you of hit songs like, "It's too late," by Carole King and even, "Seasons in the Sun," by Terry Jacks. Meyer's, wins you over from the first note of the song. Making you want to listen to the entire song, over and over, just to enjoy the vibe. Hitting you with a nostalgic vibe of Woodstock, summer fun, bell bottom jeans, sunflowers, peace signs and easy listening, hit songs, on the radio. "Life is an Adventure" is a great song meant to be featured in a 1970's period film.

efficiently simple !

The track starts on a few notes that might remind Pat Metheny -very pleasant- but the next few minutes bring a warm, convincing voice which add to the pleasant feel given by the lyrics and the tune. Of course it sounds a bit repetitive (only a few chords are used throughout the song), but the whole thing remains uncomplicated, simple fare (acoustic guitar,), only adding a couple more instruments (and backing vocals) towards the end. And then you hear the nice guitar notes again, to finish off ; a perfect example of simplicity and effectiveness -you don't have to show off when your song is good. And yours is, Joe. thanks.

Life Is An Adventure

Hello Joe, As you know, my reviews are based upon commercial viability.... can your song be placed with an established artist? I like the idea of the song and I think you have a good starting point to begin a re-write. There is nothing wrong with the words you have chosen but so more lyrical development could help push this song from good to really good. When you think of "Life Is An Adventure" what mental pictures come to your mind other than your missing out on the adventure? What kind of adventure?... your own personal view of life's ups and downs will add details that help draw the listener in to your overall concept. There have been a lot of two chords hit songs but it's a difficult task to pull off. Changing the harmonic structure up.... will lead the listener on more pleasing journey and help solidify the prosody of your song. Regarding prosody, watch the phrasing you use ... try not to make the words sound unnatural if possible... example... would you really say "possibilities" conversationally the way that you sang it in your song? I liked the simple guitar presentation a lot and thought it worked well... Nice job! Overall you have a nice start to a song.... the hardest part is still before you which is the re-write..... remember to study the your favorite artists to see how they handle melody / harmony / rhythm / prosody. Good luck and keep writing! RW

nice song.

Hi Joe. I like your song. It sounds very... easy. I think you proclaim easy living, no ? The guitar sounds very fresh and loving, I like it. Your voice is nice too. I think the ladies might think you have a very warm voice here, no ? Great ! It's a nice chord scheme, but the composition is not too elaborated here. Check out : Rikky Rooksby: A course on singer-songwriting; song structures. Hey man. You'll find it very interesting... But. I must admit Joe, as good music eases down morale, tonight your song did it to me man... I love you ! Please check out my music and send me a reaction or at least, a review. Nice easy listening song

Hi Joe, Nice easy listening song. It stays in my head after listening just one time! The lyrics saying what many people recognize or discover in their lives I think. The lyrics are very clear and understandable for everyone so you've got a good catchy song written for a big audience I think. The only thing for me that's less is that it is not something new or "adventurous"...But that has all to do with taste in music. I like a bit of roughness and experimenting :-) Good luck with everything and all the best, Betty
