Dear Friends,
Today feels like a Leonard Cohen morning, you know, the guy who wrote Hallelujah. Not only was Cohen one of the finest songwriters of his generation, but also a prolific poet.
I co-wrote a song with Cohen once. Well, I put one of his poems, Other Writers, to music. I wrote to his people asking for permission to do so, and I never heard back from them. I assumed that meant ok!

Hey friends,
Hope you've been well. I was back in the Midwest last month at a songwriter's retreat and subsequently recorded a new album of co-writes with Hoosier lyricist Frederick Michaels, entitled Somethings Old, Somethings New. I'll be posting these new tracks here little by little after their release on Bandcamp December 15.
Meanwhile, enjoy this brand-new track, A Visit with Uncle Sean, which just had its world radio premier on station KVHS, Concord Rock City, CA. Lyrics by Mike Byers, my music, with Michael Kelsey helping me with additional instrumentation, and featuring the stellar vocals of Amanda Fletcher.

Joe Peters is an American singer-songwriter who has released a dozen CDs of original music since 1998. Joe grew up in the Midwest during the late 60s and early 70s, and his songs hearken back to a time when young people sought the experience of peace, love and adventure and expressed this search in their music. Through his own music, Joe hopes to rekindle in others that spark of the truth seeker that was awakened in him long ago by the songs of other introspective songwriters. Some of Joe’s songs are influenced by oriental philosophies and were written while living and working overseas. Joe’s song, Sail Away, won top honors at the First Annual Blooming-Tunes songwriting contest in 2009. His original musical slide show, Root of the Matter, is featured on the Catholic Relief Services website. Joe has recently (2017) moved to the Bay Area of California, where he continues to write and perform, and occasionally returns to Indiana to share his songs with a Hoosier audience.
