Is the there any good reason why the new so-called African American history museum at the Smithsonian is not jumping at the chance to accept donation of a rare item that is part of the African American legacy? The curators don't even have to leave their chair to investigate this one.Why? Well, I have written a book that provides all the reference material for them. This is a process not sponsored by Oprah Winfrey, or big corporate or academic sources. This may be part of the problem. All of these interests mentioned above were patronized when the museum opened. I have a feeling there are many others like me that have something of perceived value to contribute that are lost in the shuffle. This is going to cost a lot because now that quilt is going to come with a six-figure cost. That's the appraised value. Maybe it will wind up at Ripley's Believe It or Not. The quilt has direct relationship to the Underground Railroad and even has a translatable code on it. Very rare- A piece of cake right? Why then after two years of applications do I hear nothing? I did notice that their are further delays in the works. It does not surprise me to hear that the director of this museum, (as per his own published comment) had to break into the place with a crowbar to enter on the first day. What about that reassures anyone that the place is being competently managed? Any suggestions on how to expedite this process? In the meanwhile here's some music to listen to.
