beatlesque
opening builds on a triad and then moves on into a kind of early 70's pop/beatle's inspired verse and chord progression. Unfortunately the vocal mix is still buried in either an effect or a double that is not working as well as intended. After the guitar solo, there is a nice little line about silence and being alone, and one wonders after that little nugget how much of John's previous material may have had some well crafted lines that were just buried in the mix. Again, the mix is very muddy and could use some cleaning up and placement with judicious panning that could make a huge difference in the quality of the product. Since this tune is somewhat enjoyable (sans the fake applause track, NaNoo Nanoo) I personally would love to hear it with a cleaner mix.

A Nice Little Easy Rock, Pop, Country Ditty...
I have been a fan of John's music, style, uniqueness, and sound for a few years now since being a part of Number One Music. This song, "Closer To You" has a nice easy rock, pop, and possibly a country crossover feel with some nice crunch guitars that are moving the song right along. John's raspy vocals make you feel the passion he has from what I tell hasn't been an easy life for him. John's song draws me in to want to hear more. Nice guitar leads. The song structure is good and has a 'Turtle-ish'/ Dylan "It Ain't Me Babe' type hook thrown in there , in which I like. And of course I like the audience clapping at the end of the song. Very cool effect. John, great job! Keep on writing and pushing. Rock on!!

Really nice harmonies on your vocals on this one. I also liked the acoustic rhythm that lays along the frame of this one. Acoustic guitars always seem to give a song a certain warmth. You also have some nice lines in your lyrics in this particular piece. The electric guitar solos could probably be reworked to not be so busy in it and possibly some other instrument to give it a more recent sound. Just a way to freshen up a composition with a newer instrumental voice rather than the standard guitar solo. Consider it... Good song though.

Bonjour cette critique est un point de vue auditeur, de plus ce n'est pas mon style de musique, mais je trouve très plaisent dans l'ensemble . Vue que c'est en live le son n'est pas trop mauvais plutôt assez bon .bien

nice voice and nice song!
Very nice song! It's well developped and there is a good dynamic. The tone of the lyrics is adeguate to the mood of the song. Also the voice is nice and particular, very recognizable, I think it makes the difference. The only critique I have about this recording is that I think the voice is a bit too covered by the rest of the instruments and it's a pity since I think it's one of the strongest and the most winning elements of this song! Well done :)

voce originale
voce originale. e pezzo orecchiabile che si sviluppa bene con cori e doppie voci quindi tutto bene secondo il mio parere la voce del cantante e' calda e trasmette qualcosa tutto ok avanti cosi'

Hi Boys think women are like books, If the cover doesn’t catch their eye they won’t bother to read what’s inside...You never know what life is like, until you have lived it. All little girls should be told they are pretty, even if they aren’t. agree...

Catchy pop tune
Catchy pop tune. Love the court structure, love the breakdown in the middle. Nice lead guitar work. Keep doing what you’re doing! Looking forward to hearing more. Does any of your work include keys? That might be interesting to work in. Cheers and best of luck!

Closer to You Review
The song is a great song. It's got several hooks in the music and vocal. BUT, the mix is dated. You lose the beauty of the song because of that. This mix would be nice for a live recording however, based upon the melody and structure, I would remove a lot of the effects on the vocal. Make it natural. You have a nice voice. Let people hear it. I would CONSIDER using more acoustic guitar than distortion. Just a thought.

Get Closer
One of the things I enjoy most about Number One Music artists is the newfound ability to hear music from around the world by singers who I'd never have the chance to listen to otherwise. That, in itself, is a great thing. Here, with this song a smooth and easy to listen to. Vocally - in production - I'm not a fan of what John's voice sounds like - like it's too far back from the mic or the levels aren't up high enough - but his tone, pitch and performance are lovely.

Impressive Rock-Pop Song
This song goes to the heart and touches the soul. Really great lovesong from a songwriter with god given talent. John has a unique voice and a strong vocal projection. The engaging rock sound carries the whole recording. There is immediately a great space with a perfect played acoustic guitar, but there also virtuos rock-solos in the backing. This extra factor brings additional feeling into the song. The powerful drums and bass-line make the song complete. Advanced mixture of Rock N-roll and Pop. It´s worth to listen this song and if you like add him. Let others know your recommendation.
