These Waiting Arms (went to Number 1 on the N1M Canadian Pop Charts)

My Tunes Volume 1 Track 12

Song Reviews

Great rhythm, questionable recording

This song has a great groove to it with a solid rock feel. It sounds like a warped cassette tape at times. I do think the instruments and vocals are excellent! I would consider having a professional studio extract the audio from the media it was copied from. Just my opinion.

nicely written

Nicely written little tune, with a very 60's lilt/nod. comments going forward are on production only. The song suffers from a production standpoint. the vocals, which on a ballad should be very pronounced in the mix are almost buried with effect and behind the drums. Again, the insertion of crowd noise to simulate crowd recognition of the song is a distraction, but as every track from this artist has this "feature" I will leave it be. Strip it down, take the ambient effects off the vocals and mix them prominently in the song, and take a much tamer approach to the guitar in the arrangement. Highlight the songwriting and you may find your mix takes on a much more organic aspect.

John Anthony Saucier These waiting arms

John Anthony Saucier These waiting arms. OK so if you have listened to a few tracks by John Anthony Saucier you''ll realize he's got the live thing figured out. There simply is a good number of Country blues rock venues where people will be hanging out waiting for something like this to come on. What I have found with todays computer audiences is that many are looking for the best song or songs to add to their collection and it's difficult to know what the best song is here. I can see that Mr. Saucier may have a good long live CD figured out. But I would think an EP that has a couple 3 minute songs and maybe not a best of or greatest its but perhaps 4-5 songs that connect emotionally the most so that people can put it on when they are in this certain mood. These waiting arms has a couple of commercial elements it is 3:30 and the keyboards add a little something catchy. This is an upbeat tune.

These Waiting Arms

Ok a bit poor sound on this one. Seems it's an ok tune,.Don't know what happens iwith the applause..sounds a bit fake..I would like to hear the song as a normal recording.. But from what I can hear the vocals are quite nice as well as the music.

Good Classic Up Tempo Rock Tune

This was a Good Classic Up Tempo Rock Tune performed with the intent for a Live Venue atmosphere setting. Right away the Instrumental Intro was good and tight with no surprises to set up the Vocal Verse, however, I couldn't make out the lyrics especially in the begin. In my opinion, the Lead Vocal must always Stand-Out and perhaps it was low in the Mix or maybe too much verb that may have muffled the lyrics. But the Vocal Melody was On-Point throughout with nice Dynamic Changes. My only suggestion is a ReMix if at all possible to maybe boost the Mid-range where the Lead Vocals reside. Otherwise, the song sounded really good.

Melodic country music

Thankfully the quality of this recording has nothing to do with the quality of the song. We are talking about a popcountry tune very easy listening and nice to listen to. The band seem to have recorded this one live.

These Waiting Arms

This is a very interesting song you have. You didn't need to dub in the applause at the start and before the break. It's a little distracting and the song quite simply stands up on its own. I would try working with the mix to make it more appealing to the ear. The drums could be toned down on the reverb and gate and go for a more natural sound. I really enjoyed the vocals but there is room for improvement of the overall mix. Keep writing!

give up

Hi John,Almost nothing works the first time it's attempted. Just because what you're doing does not seem to be working, doesn't mean it won't work. It just means that it might not work the way you're doing it. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it, and you wouldn't have an opportunity There's an old Chinese saying that I just love, and I believe it is so true. It goes like this: "The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed. Good luck and more good songs.

Impressive Alternative Rock

Short intro with great rock-guitar solo make the difference of this song. J.A. Saucier has a unique rock voice and the lyrics makes the meaning of this song engaging for me. Distortioned guitar-solo bringing imaginative transitions into the music and making the song lively and creative. The accompain keyboard and powerful drums puts one immediately into the right mood. Overall not perfect mixed because of the well known difficulties of live recordings. Ambitioned performance of an alternative rock song. Wanna likely add, than let others know your recommendation.
