About John Anthony Saucier

"I'm very proud to be independent. It saves me from listening to what I ‘should and shouldn't do, so I can be as creative as I want with my music”.
Born October 11, 1958
I started playing the guitar at the age of nine and I began writing songs at age sixteen.
Some of you may want to know my secret for songwriting. Lol.
I'm not a natural songwriter. Meaning that I don't write songs for a living or just for the sake of doing it.
Something has to come to pass in my life be it good or bad that is so monumental tit shakes my spirit and rattles my soul. Only then can I stop anything I'm doing and anywhere I'm going and sit down to write a song about it. It's always happened that way for me since I was 16 years old.
Originally, I was a lead guitar player. I used to be good, but carpal tunnel in both hands turned me into a mediocre player. I used to sing a lot better too. But I'm 62 years old. Now I'm just an old guy having some fun. One thing you might have noticed is that none of my tunes sound the same. These songs are probably my best efforts to date.
So, for me, there really are only two genres of music - theirs and mine.
I just like mine more. Lol.

When You Love Me ( My Tunes Volume 4 Track 10)

The sweet attitude in the song
This song, When You Love Me, only proves it we are facing here some prolific artist capable of producing fine rock songs at a large measure and you just stop in amazement at how cool the whole thing is, forcing to take a ride across the paradigms of rock'n'roll catering to modern age rather, and it's endearing for how much the man, who's music draws from an innumerable variety of different sources feels himself this complete and assured along the way. Hold On To Your Heart review
I've reviewed other works of yours and I see you have quite a few songs that you are asking for reviews on them. Many of them appear to be past live performances. The main issue with these types of songs is they usually aren't the best productions that they can be. This is the case in this song as well. It is not that it isn't a good song, because it is a catchy tune that flows well. But it's recording is not the best quality it can be. The rhythm guitar is much drier and appears to be either mixed in later or mixed too hot at the time. The vocals are harmonized nicely but with too much reverb. In short, this could be a good song if it were re-recorded professionally in a studio and mixed properly to bring out its best. I hope this helps you understand what needs to be done to get your songs at a level that your listeners and/or reviewers can get the most out of your work. They deserve it and you do too. Good luck in the future and hopefully you will try re-recording your best work for us all.

Live productions are hard to do well, but this is working pretty well with a decent balance for a live sound! I love it when the drums come in. The reduction down to acoustic guitar and vocal, then add in the bass, then back up, keeps your interest in the song so that it does not become boring. Back to the drums; tasteful and not overdone, like the lead guitar, it works well and aids in keeping the interest in the song on the message. Good job!!

The song is a good song, BUT, I'm not feeling the performance, from instrumental to vocal it feels stiff, without emotional involvement. The piano sounds as if it was a midi file as opposed t playing with feeling. On the bright side, the guitar solo was great. My suggestion is to strip the song bare. Try a new lead vocalist that can interpret what the song is about. Have that person lay a vocal that can be the reference for other instrumentation. Have the guitarist as an accompaniment for the vocalist. THEN build around that. Its a solid song. I would love to hear a redo.

Lots of Masks in this Masquerade
I'm not really sure how to classify this song. A masquerade, after all, has a lot of hidden elements that lurk in the shadows behind their masks. This tune is no different. Firstly, the guitar solo is ripping and certainly a highlight for me. The call and responses with the vocal in the last head are a nice touch as well. I love the vocal delivery and the singer reminds me of John Wetton in his King Crimson days. That might not be the best comparison, as it doesn't quite reflect the pop jazzy chord progression. I do like the changes and the melody, the whole song comes off a little unbalanced. I'm sure in a live setting, this song would benefit from a few traded solos. Nice work!

This song is really "old school". This is usually not a compliment. But everything fits together here: a very beautiful melody, a mature voice, carefully arranged. Roadblocks in the way of great potential!
Ria is a good song but suffers from two distractions. The vocals suffer from poor sounding quality of microphone, and position in the mix. There is great emotion in the vocals, but the poor sounding articulation of the lyrics some of which is the singer's responsibility, and some as a result of the aforementioned equipment and level in the recorded mix down. The music is very good with the unfortunate exception of the odd-sounding lead in chords of the intro to the guitar solo. It sounds like one of the guitarists hit a wrong chord. A surprise chord change can be an interesting asset to a song when all musicians are changing as one. This distracting chord by one of the guitar players was not that. I think this song has great potential with these corrections. The song has a great rhythm and blues feel and moves well. Ria has good potential sex appeal when the needed changes have been applied. Anyway, that's my take!

That is over affecting the voice. let your voice find itself and trust it rather than burying it in reverb and delay. I always disliked my voice and always piled on the reverb and whatever else I had at hand but my musicians made me stop doing that and I found that though many didn't like my voice, many not only found it appropriate for the music but even interesting and distinctive. Well recorded piece of music!
I like this tune. It bounces nicely along with a good memorable chorus. It’s very well recorded for a live recording and I would not hesitate to recommend it it anyone listening to this style of music. Keep up the good work John!

Don't Break This Heart (My Tunes Volume 2 Track 4)

Country swing, rock vocals = Great tunes!
Saucier holds back on his vocals first third of the song, then he let's loose with some bluesy rock vocals that would make anyone sit up and take notice. Tight guitar rhythm, I believe an accompanying base riff would add some foundational spice to the pot, but it's still a great dish served up well. Would like to hear the vocals hit the sauce from the first bar, because they have soul and heart, very unique! Let them out!

Likable
It’s a nice tune and I would like to understand the lyrics but lacks definition in the recording or the mix is not matched. Also, no gimmick for people to remember the song, you need a guitar or chorus gimmick, like a catchy tune.

Catchy pop tune
Catchy pop tune. Love the court structure, love the breakdown in the middle. Nice lead guitar work. Keep doing what you’re doing! Looking forward to hearing more. Does any of your work include keys? That might be interesting to work in. Cheers and best of luck!

Canadian acoustic
Beautiful acoustic guitars. Love Canadian songs. Your voice is warm and sensitive. I’m not sure the applauses were necessary, but surely you have a reason for that. Keep making music that improves our souls. Great mix too. My best regards.

Audience?
Listened to this song and found it interesting. I ain't buying the audience, sounds like a prerecorded track. The crowd sound is crystal clear but the lead vocal is muffled but what to heck, it was a good idea. The song has nice chord changes and a good melody. The guitar work is good also. Can't understand the words though so I lose the story. Having said that, overall good job.

Review of John Sauciers Second String tune
A smooth start with a live audience, drums not missing a beat, guitar plucking out the melody, Johns's vocals are smooth and the tune will get your toes rapping! A really good dance tune with the lead guitar blending with the singer's words!Take a minute and enjoy his tune and listen to the reaction of the live crowd to his tune! You may want to listen the second time to catch the words and the guitar runs a little better, recording could have been a little clearer but over all a nice tune!

I'm here listening to your music My friend John Anthony
I'm here listening to your music My friend John Anthony. And really really good has a good quality rock and roll footprint and of course, I think the double bass could go out a Despite being well remastered well but it seems that the bass was not very visible so well to give And the butt too. It was a little hidden, but I really liked the There are some striking ones, your voice is also hoarse, it’s not a voice, like you say in that rock and roll style, right? Someone or metallic, very Congratulations there and I hope you continue.
