About Johnbeezy
Born and Raised in Oklahoma. I showed vocal talent as a young boy. 2nd oldest of 6 siblings that all were passionate about music whether singing, dancing or rapping the joneses always put on a show . I publicly performed in my first talent show at age 11 and locally was confirmed that there was a uniqueness to my sound. Focusing majority of my time on athletics during my school days, it was just a hobby back then.
About 2 years out of high school I linked up with friends that were pursuing underground hip hop exposure and joined in on studio sessions and events with (expired link) (Top Notch Players). Just featuring in songs and hooks and attending events as an artist, I was introduced to the pursuit of a dream I didn’t realize I had yet.
I started getting serious about my music in 2006 and decided to separate myself from (expired link) as John Beezy, Individual artist. The only problem was, I needed a studio. An old classmate saw my passion and gave me my first set up. A microphone, a laptop, and pre-installed recording software. In my 1 bedroom apartment, in my walk in closet, magic and music started and eventually consumed my life. Recording other local artists and myself and learning the art of engineering and producing quality sound and music. I taught myself to be the man behind the music as well as an artist.
Several years independent and growing in trial and error, research and industry advice I had Created a buzz. Building my brand virally got me noticed by local venues that allowed me to really develop myself as a serious artist and producer.
I was performing at a local venue and ran into a childhood friend Erick “Kane” Hightower. We joined forces and experience and the vision of putting Oklahoma’s talent on the map began. Together we formed a group in 2012, Blok Boyz Ent. consisting of myself, Kane and one of my former (expired link) artists that went independent Reggie “Castro” Lee. Joining three fan bases and crazy versatile talent blew up all around our state. Performing at any and every gig we could book, winning competitions and being known as the group to show up and show out.
We shined our vision in any talent we saw and unity began to flood the scene. Oklahoma's Street Music Awards we won the 2012 "Best Group". The city was buzzing with our name and we wanted to start a movement of successful, talented individuals coming together, pursuing their own brand but supporting and promoting OURs!
A friend and local business owner noticed our grind and offered to financially invest in us, creating the local independent record label Bloknation Records. Adding more independent artists and local hip hop groups to our roster, we became the most known label in OKC and surrounding areas 2013-2015. Bloknation Records owned a recording studio, all female multicultural promotion and modeling sister business #BlokGyrlz, Event center, Night club, Clothing line, T-shirt manufacturer, security company, Marketing Productions company, auto detail shop, custom hat design, T-shirt press, thrift shop and boutique/urban wear outlet... along with many more entrepreneurs stemming from this movement. We gave back to our #Blok with benefit concerts, Turkey giveaways, Christmas Toy drives, Natural disaster relief donations, offered "TEEN TALENT SHOWCASES" For troubled local youth sell themselves and their talent instead of drugs and gang violence. We hosted "cash prize Rap Battles" for new talent we also brought many big name artists to our City to show local support.
We have opened up for major artists just to name a few Kevin Gates,
Lil Boosie, YG, Twista, Lil Webbie, Party Boyz, GS Boyz, Young Jeezy, E-40,
Kirko Bangs, Super Jay, Lil Flip etc.. Headlining our OWN acts as a label, group and independent artists. We have airplay not only in OKC but on several different internet radio stations like "The Beat" "Spotlight radio" "106.3mobi".
We have performed over 250 live shows all over the Midwest Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas and still counting. Oklahoma promo teams collaborate annually on underground music industry greats "VIRAL VOTES" for "Street Music awards" not naming 20 + awards voted humbly received by label mates and myself, some of my most memorable was the clean sweep in 2013- 2015 "Man Behind the Music" "Label of the Year" "Most known Label" "Album of the Year" "Single of the Year" "Group of the Year" "Best Video" "Best Dressed" "Best Performance" "Artist of the Year" "Mixtape of the Year" and still counting.
We all come from different walks and struggles of life and in the past 3 years we have lost some of most talented and key players to the good dying young, gang violence, incarceration and addiction. Being the creator of the movement myself, I faced trauma in the loss of my younger sister, my childhood singing partner and motivation, shortly after several friends, associates the nail in my down fall coffin was the loss of my best friend... My brother My Rasta and most talented artist, Raymond "Cutta Mayweather" Dansby, to a drunk driver...
1 year and 1 month later, Bloknation Vice President and my big COUSIN Jamal "Big Jay" Barkus, taken due to gun violence. Losing several other label mates and friends to overdoses and gang violence.
To make matters typical up 5 labelmates sentenced to prison 3+year sentences only months apart (for different unrelated struggles).
Trending Drug addiction and poor life choices to mask the pain, consumed most of the remaining talent causing the hardships. Many Marriages, relationships, families, friends and finances were destroyed in the process.
God NEVER took the talent or passion from anyone in THE #Nation, Heaven and on Earth... and We are STILL rebuilding.
Even tho the world witnessed "THE FALL OF A NATION" You will now experience "The Rise of Kingz...#BLOK KINGZ" lessons learned, blessings earned. Jesus rose from the dead in 3 days. We are rising in 3 years. 2019 is OURs OKC.
Our movement is about showcasing Our #BLOKS that raised us to shine throughout the entire #NATION- #BLOKNATION
