We are excited to announce the upcoming celebration of the 75th year of the Greta Migrant Camp, NSW AUSTRALIA commemorating the arrival of one hundred thousand migrants in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. This milestone event will be a momentous occasion filled with reflection, gratitude, and celebration. We are honored to have Marion & Johnny Shilo as special guests at the event. Marion and Johnny will be performing thier original song titled "ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND MIGRANTS," which has received high acclaim. In 2023, this song was recognized as highly commended, placing in the top 30 of the lyric section in the prestigious Australian Songwriting Association awards. Selected by 200 judges from a pool of many thousands of talented entries, this achievement is a testament to the exceptional artistry and storytelling in Marion's composition. The performance by Marion & Johnny Shilo promises to be a highlight of the evening, offering a poignant and heartfelt tribute to the migrants who embarked on a journey of hope and new beginnings at the Greta Migrant Camp. Folks: This is what I/we have been working towards, I am currently rehearsing the song ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND MIGRANTS and will be in the studio recording the song to be in the promotion that will be advertised around Australia. I am very excited and proud to be involved in this special event. This is a true story close to my heart, and my parents were 2 of the migrants from Germany and Poland that arrived to Australia in the 1950's and I was born there. The Camp at Greta NSW has long gone, only a memorial plaque remains in its place but the memories and mateship live on through the occasional gatherings of the second generation like myself. Hopefully I can upload the song to n1music in the future. It is a story song so a little longer than usual. The other project I am focusing on is a songwriting conference/workshop which is held on 20th April 2024 by the most accredited Songwriter in Australia, Mr Allan Caswell which has almost 1000 songs, by many various artists around the world that have recorded them. So I have to have a song ready for him to edit on the day, written by Marion of course. So hopefully all will go well.
