Hello all you lovely people around the world tuning in to my/ our music, thank you.
I've been a little quiet as far as gigs go, but I have had a life changing event happen just one month ago. Well I am now a great grand poppy, my beautiful little man is the apple of my eye and my heart is overflowing with love for him. Hence the beer for celebration.
As far as recording goes I have been to the studio and recorded 2 cover songs, one as attached to this email..I am I Said and the other In The Ghetto, both uploaded to no1music for your enjoyment & I hope you get some pleasure from listening to the 2 songs.
I would love to put out a new album but being an independent artist it is a little hard as life things come first.
Marion my music buddy is doing well with her songwriting, she was short listed in the Australian Songwriting Association Awards for 2024 so she is excited about that. Also she has commenced a 1 year Masterclass Songwriting Academy Course and is really enjoying the challenges of writing songs to a certain creative structure instructed by her mentors.
I am singing this week at a songwriting function, it of course must be original songs so I am singing 4 of our originals that are on no.1music maybe I can get some pics to upload. I am really looking forward to performing again. The last big country music festival I performed at was in July, 4 days of full on singing to a very apprehensive audience
which I thoughly enjoyed. I was thinking of retiring but now I don't think that is a good Idear, I will continue while my health hold up..as I love singing, it's the biggest part of who I am, it keeps me happy & focused.

NEW MUSIC ALERT: One Hundred Thousand Migrants ... A TRUE STORY
This is a story song of the migrants who embarked on a journey to Australia in 1949-1960 after the second world war and how they struggled to come to terms with their new life.

How our song came to be"

It has been an amazing journey of discovery and connection that has led to the creation of our song "One Hundred Thousand Migrants." How we researched the history of The Greta Migrant Camp, on Google, connected with Alek Schulha, (The organiser of the celebration)through his daughter Alison on Facebook and eventually met over the phone and just recently in person, is truly inspiring. It's wonderful that the lyrics of this song of Marion's was recognized in the prestigious Australian Songwriting Association Awards, in the top 30 in 2023 being highly commended and played on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation is humbling.

It's heartwarming to see the support and dedication from everyone involved in celebrating the 75 years of Greta Migrant Camp especially Alek and Lee Schulha. The Camp has long gone but the memories live on in the hearts and minds of the next generations.

Johnny's parents and brother were included in the "One Hundred Thousand Migrants" that arrived at Newcastle by the General HarryTaylor Ship on 2rd February 1950 (actually Marion's birthday)then travelled by train to Greta Migrant Camp.

The fact that Johnny was born at the Greta Migrant Camp 74 years ago 8/6/1950 and that this event has coincided with his birthday, (AND he hadn't been back since), adds an even more special and personal touch to the whole experience.
Johnny walked at 9 months but unfortunately contracted Polio at the age of 13 months at the Greta Migrant Camp and spent 18 months in an Iron lung flat on his back in the Maitland link Then at the age of five he then spent another 18 months on a skin traction machine at a special childrens home in Sydney NSW. Johnny continued to stay there for further treatment and schooling til the age of 12. He then moved to Wagga Wagga NSW were his family lived. He finished his higher schooling then pursued his music career. Johnny has walked with the aid of crutches due to the polio leaving his right leg muscles disfunctonal, from childhood to the present day.

Despite that early set back he says he has had wonderful experiences in his life especially as an entertainer.
It's amazing how music and history can bring people together and create such meaningful connections.

I would just like to say how happy we both are for the recognition of our song, that it has received on its DEBUT and how excited and proud we were able to contribute to the special event.
It's a beautiful story of collaboration, discovery, gratitude and celebration.

We are excited to announce the upcoming celebration of the 75th year of the Greta Migrant Camp, NSW AUSTRALIA commemorating the arrival of one hundred thousand migrants in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. This milestone event will be a momentous occasion filled with reflection, gratitude, and celebration.

We are honored to have Marion & Johnny Shilo as special guests at the event. Marion and Johnny will be performing thier original song titled "ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND MIGRANTS," which has received high acclaim. In 2023, this song was recognized as highly commended, placing in the top 30 of the lyric section in the prestigious Australian Songwriting Association awards. Selected by 200 judges from a pool of many thousands of talented entries, this achievement is a testament to the exceptional artistry and storytelling in Marion's composition.

The performance by Marion & Johnny Shilo promises to be a highlight of the evening, offering a poignant and heartfelt tribute to the migrants who embarked on a journey of hope and new beginnings at the Greta Migrant Camp.

Folks:
This is what I/we have been working towards, I am currently rehearsing the song ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND MIGRANTS and will be in the studio recording the song to be in the promotion that will be advertised around Australia. I am very excited and proud to be involved in this special event. This is a true story close to my heart, and my parents were 2 of the migrants from Germany and Poland that arrived to Australia in the 1950's and I was born there.
The Camp at Greta NSW has long gone, only a memorial plaque remains in its place but the memories and mateship live on through the occasional gatherings of the second generation like myself.
Hopefully I can upload the song to n1music in the future. It is a story song so a little longer than usual.

The other project I am focusing on is a songwriting conference/workshop which is held on 20th April 2024 by the most accredited Songwriter in Australia, Mr Allan Caswell which has almost 1000 songs, by many various artists around the world that have recorded them.
So I have to have a song ready for him to edit on the day, written by Marion of course. So hopefully all will go well.

Well hello to all my beautiful subscribers, especially those who are new, & my follow musicians. I hope the new year has brought new hopes & dreams to you all.
I'm looking forward to getting back to what I love & I believe it's the sole purpose of my being & that's giging & sharing my talent bringing pleasure to my audiences. I love a variety of music but my heart is with Country which have many styles these days.

Marion has been busy writing new material so
I will be concentrating on putting music to her works. We have a meeting next month with a new producer to guide us hopefully in a newer direction such as maybe more ballads as I think that suits my voice & I feel comfortable with singing. I am looking at one particular song, (it's a true story) of an old gent that I met & Marion wrote it for a new single for radio this year & hopefully an EP or ALBUM to follow which takes time and hard work & as an independent artist in is all self promotion.

We will be attending a songwriting conference in April collaborating in a group so let's see what comes out of that, could be very interesting.
Marion had some good news with one of her song lyrics, country rock reaching the finals in December 2023, at Tamworth Country Music Festival NSW (Australias equalivent to Nashville USA). Her very first certificate of achievement which she just received recently so we are so excited about that.
As you have probably noticed I have up loaded my version of three new cover songs, two of Don Williams & one of Johnny Cash which I hope you are enjoying

Hello to all you lovely people all around the world, I & Marion thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the continued support of our music. We love bringing it to you and with some good management and hard work we will have some more to share in the future.
So another year is almost at a close,
every year seems to fly by quicker than the last.
We have been busy with the end of year parties which have even enjoyable especially, 'Vision Australia' which supports The blind or low vision. The support their clients very well with the utmost respect. Marion being one, we are so grateful for their services.
Marion was chosen by vision Australia to be interviewed on radio for being a great example of how she copes ,especially through music being blind, having a great happy outlook on life and willing to help others going through loss of sight. A faboulas ambassador they said so I am very fortunate for her to be my music buddy and proud to be her friend.
So on that note we both wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy rocking Nrw Year. If you don't believe in the festive season Happy Holidays from Marion and I, take care stay safe

Hello everyone of my/our subscribers around the world, thanking you for your time & support.

Since my last e-letter Marion and I have played at two concerts
The first one All originals, 2 songs Marion wrote were well received . People just sit & listen to the creativity of song writing & enjoying the music of the different types of genre's
The second gig was a dance party were the audience celebrated the Grand final of The Australian Rules football season. A great interactive audience which had a great time singing along & dancing
The story behind this gig was that we stayed as it was 3.5 hours from Melbourne Australia and what happened next was unbelievable. A huge bush fire broke out, half a klm from the small town which is on a peninsula & only one road in and out. Police closed the road as the fire jumped the road with huge winds very dangerous so to late to leave. 25.000 hecters burnt .With no electricity the fire burnt down 7 polls. We had flat mobiles/cell phones, so no communication from government emergency services. We did have gas & food so stayed inside praying for rain. We didn t know that the emergency plan was to go to the hotel and to be evacuated by boat if necessary as the small town is on the large East Gippsland lakes Victoria. Australia
Anyway thank God we were blessed saved by the rain it poured down & 1000 people saved at last.
That wasn't all it rained so much that we stayed another 3 days as for the flooding the road still closed . We did get power as 3 huge generators were temporarily installed until the polls could be replaced. We will never forget that gig.

Now for our most exciting news
Marion my music buddy was fortunate enough to have 2 song lyrics reach the top 30 in the lyrics section of the Australian Songwriting Awards. We flew to Sydney from Melbourne attending the gala night on 21st Sept 23 dressed in our best. Marion didnt get to the first 10 but was highly commended her 2 song lyrics by the Chairman. He asked for a photo of the 2 of them to be able to put in their newsletter, website & social media so she feels a winner link was very impressed with Nation's achievement being blind & was quite interested in one of the songs lyrics Title "One Hundred Migrants" a true story of Migrants that arrived in Australia in the 40's 50's & 60's .
On the same day an Australian Broadcasting commission presenter Scott Bevan on drive time radio was doing a story on the same subject & interviews us both which we were surprised and delighted for the support.
A guy called Alek Schulha has written a book and on to his second so Marion has sent him the lyrics & acoustic version for him to promote with his books.

Our next venture is on 25th November 23 for a songwriting workshop so we are looking forward to that catching up with fellow musicians.

Marion is going on a cruise for songwriting in December to the Pacific Islands so hopefully she will come back with some great lyrics for our next album which we hope will start to record in the new year. I know I said we were hoping for new songs this year but with family commitments it didn't go our way.

Mothers Day

Hello folks, Welcome
hope all's well with you,

This year is flying along or seems as we get older the time goes faster.
Christmas & New Year celebrations done, holidays done, Tamworth Country Music Festival 2023 done.
Since I mentioned Tamworth it was another great celebration of our Country Music industry. Many great shows ticketed & not ticketed by the dedicated artists, well known or not so well known & not forgetting the buskers in Peel Street in the stifling heat all make their way to Tamworth each year, the followers & me included.

I'm happy to say I have the pleasure entertaining again in the RSL Clubs, Country Music Clubs & pubs in Victoria travelling around with my music buddy Marion & enjoying very much meeting up with old friend & making new ones. I just love how music connects people together.

We have some good news, we have had a meeting with the CEO Phil & Music Producer Sean of Wild At Heart Community Art Nth Melbourne Vic. They are very interested in our talent & have offered to mentor, record, produce & release our original music. We are at the moment gathering/writing at least 4 songs to record an EP for later in the year. First of all we will release a single as soon as it is done, hopefully the first half of this year. So this is an exciting time for us.
Busy, busy, busy.

Hello again you lovely music loving folks, here's to a great 2023 for all of us.
I am on holidays at the moment so
my chill out time listening to music, eating to much, thinking about going for walks ???? lol. Enjoying the moment.
The first half of 2022 for me as far as gigs went was a little slow but fortunately the second half got a little busy especially near to Christmas.

This month January I'm off on my traditional journey to the Tamworth Country Music Festival NSW 12-22nd January 2023. So looking forward to performing link my new followers it's the equivalent to Nashville for Country Music in Australia so always exciting to meet up with old & new followers, friends.

I'm also working on putting a 1 person show together of stories of various artists in country music past & present which should be ready later in the year so that's keeping me busy

Marion my music buddy has been writing more original songs so that will also keep me busy working out the music & putting it to the lyrics.

If all goes well we will release a new single hopefully mid year. Not sure of which one as we are still deciding then I have to learn the song & then book a studio which all takes time.
