Hi Guys - My next project is well under way!
It's called "Trusting in the Waves" - A Musical and Visual Experience that tells the little-known role that Weymouth in Dorset played in the founding of the United States of America.
“Trusting in the Waves” traces the journey of the little Ship that sailed out of Weymouth Harbour in march 1635, and what happened to the real-life characters who sailed with her.
Our fascinating story begins in early 1635 when a party of Intrepid Pioneers gathered around Weymouth Harbour. The Party was led by the Reverend Joseph Hull, a controversial clergyman from Crewkerne, and comprised of just over one hundred men, women and children from across the South West of England who sailed off to found the Town of Weymouth in Massachusetts.
A large group came from the area around Batcombe in Somerset, a woollen area, and were mainly weavers and tailors. At Weymouth they were joined by Angell Hollard, a shoemaker by trade. Angell and his family play an important part in our tale and his daughter Elizabeth, born in Weymouth Massachusetts in 1638, gives us a surprising link back to Weymouth England and our Royal Patron King George the Third, via the infamous "Boston Tea Party"
It's an amazing story !
