Joshua Clark’s love of music started out as a mere crush. It was the late ‘80s. Michael Jackson and Madonna were taking their seats as the permanent King and Queen of pop, while rap music was slowly starting to become a force to be reckoned with. All the while a young Joshua was sitting around Decatur, Georgia waiting for something to happen. Then all of a sudden his family became the owners of a piano and an organ with a sick drum programmer. It was then Joshua Clark started to evolve into Joshnonickname. Fast forward to today and he’s not only an artist but a writer, producer, engineer, and editor. A Josh of all Trades. A Madison Media Institute alumni, he’s not only focused on getting married and being a new father but also has his eyes set on making something of his music with his June 2017 release, PC (Personal Conversations) EP. Influenced more so by the ways of Mos Def and Andre 3000, Joshnonickname was taken by how both men approached hip hop in their own way. Mos Def told stories, while Andre 3000, in Joshnonickname’s words, “Introduced listeners to an entirely new and different way to do things while increasing the fan base. That’s MJ status honestly.” Taking notes, this budding artist started to mold his own style and sound. A sound that follows through speaking of family, honesty, self-awareness and a love of that 420 lifestyle. He notes of his sound, “I am unique simply because I am me and no matter what happens in or out of this world NO ONE can be me except me. My music is rare in many ways. I would say my music is my past infused with my hope for the future and also an ongoing therapy session.” Joshnonickname has performed with a number of talented acts including Higher Education Records (H.E.R.), Afro Intellect, and Tribal Mentality. On top of starting his own family this year, he’ll be pushing his PC EP, as well as focusing on the release of his debut LP in 2018 entitled JIYIMS (Just Inviting You Into My Story).
