About Judy Diko
Judy Diko was born to her parents in Firgrove, one of 3 daughters. She remember growing up in the apartheid era, spending many hours listening to her dad singing songs of encouragement. They did not have material wealth, but deep in their hearts they had an inner peace and believed what their parents taught them. She remembers that they had no musical instruments but that didn’t stop them from singing. She remembers and still pictures her dad singing his favorite song, “Since Jesus Came into my Heart”.
With this humble beginning Judy took it further. “I still remember that vinyl LP of Dallas Holmand André Crouch singing “The Blood Will Never Loose It’s Power”. Her parents kept on teaching them to “never stop believing in the blood of Jesus Christ, to always trust in Him and not to lean on their own understanding”. Judy said – “I
was fortune, even though we were not wealthy to have grown up in such a family
where my parents was my greatest inspiration and where the example was set by
them on how to serve God with your whole heart.”
Judy Diko is a talented artist blessed with a great singing voice. She is a CPUT
graduate who holds a Diploma in Information Technology. The story of Judy Diko has all the makings of modern day Christian Classic music, involving the fusion of African
music and the traditional classic music, and with a heart full of the love for God she only want to sing to the glory of God. As an upcoming artist she wants to let people know that your environment where you grew up does not define your character.
Based in the Helderberg region of the Western Cape Province a very under privilege
area, Judy has taken it upon herself to go for voice training from well-known voice
trainers, they also became her mentors. Something she says is priceless and an
excellent investment. She encourages every upcoming artist to invest in a excellent
voice trainer. It’s never too late to persue your dreams.
CAST SA met Judy, September 2013 at a CAST Spring Concert which took place at
Tabernacle of Praise Church, Parow (Western Cape). The singer travelled from her
base in Firgrove, in the Helderberg region to shower us with her wonderful God-given anointed voice. CAST immediately noticed the change of Gospel music through Judy Diko. Judy was interviewed on Community Vibes Radio & Radio KC and later became one of the Co-Presenters at Radio KC every alternate Sunday 20h00 to 21h00 alongside Louie Fortune. The listeners love Judy’s voice as an artist as well as a radio
presenter.
Albums recorded by Judy Diko:
I Worship Your Majesty
I was very fortunate to get a copy of her debut album I Worship Your Majesty. Here is
my short review of the 13 track album.
From ‘He looked beyond” through to ‘You are Everything the album I Worship Your
Majesty in mystery by Judy Diko is loaded 13 tracks of pure music joy. I like listening to a gospel version of What a Faithful God. The album was well received by every radio from Western Cape to the Northern Cape. The album opened doors for her where she had the privilege to minister in various churches & conferences wherever the calling was/is.
Super Strength (In Jesus)
The music on this album is soothing, and it evokes a deep assuaging emotion. The
unmistaken elements and a strong hint of Classic Operatic music are perfectly fused
with African contemporary sounds that tag at emotions in ways I have yet to experience in modern Classic contemporary gospel music. The music infiltrates the senses and creates a mood and atmosphere that is conducive for the Holy Spirit to take over. This is gospel music at a different level, even if one does not understand the language of the lyrics, one can still feel the Holy Spirit in the music. The lyrics make it undeniably gospel music, but the music is very spiritual and that transcends any language limitation. There is something powerful about it. One has to hear it, to feel it, this is music you feel, and then understand. But add understanding of the lyrics to the music and you have a winner. What Judy managed to do very expertly, was to encompass the three key ingredients of creative endeavor: intellect, emotion and imagination. With that combination she found a key to attune the listener to the melodies of heaven.
Judy Diko had the privilege to work with two well-known artist such as David Imani
(Congo) and Allou April (South Africa)
The album is titled Super Strength (in Jesus) and I would recommend that you get a
copy from iTunes or Amazon.
