Just catching up - I was leading services for Yom Kippur and Sukkot on the Celebrity Reflection Mediterranean Cruise. I was in the Sukkah of the Etz Hayyim Synagogue of Chania, Crete, built in 1492, just steps from the Venetian Harbor, on 10/18/16. In 1944 the Gestapo herded The 300 Romaniote Jews of Crete onto a cargo ship bound for Auschwitz. Torpedoed by a British submarine, all the Jews died. The Synagogue was restored as a World Heritage Site in 1999. Now in the midst of restaurants, shops and winding narrow streets filled with tourists it has a special presence with Jews from all over the world.
I wish for you a super year filled with joy!!!
Judy
