About JW Combs
JW Combs grew up in northeast Alabama, 28 miles west of Fort Payne, where the group Alabama originated. Jeff Cook, lead guitarist of Alabama, sparked his interest in learning the guitar at age 14. When he was 15, JW moved to Muscle Shoals where his love for music intensified. Engulfed by the R&B and Soul sounds of the Shoals, along with the country twang of the South, the songwriting bug hit JW. He spent his Thursday nights at Muscle Shoals to Music Row watching the biggest hit songwriters perform. Harlan Howard, Dean Dillon, Tommy Barnes, Stan Webb and Dave Turnbull are just a few songwriters that have influenced JW in his writing. In 2009, JW moved to Nashville to further pursue his dream in the country music industry. As he did previously in the Shoals, JW continued to write and perform, only now in the Nashville music scene. George Strait, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Sr. and Alan Jackson are some of the artists that JW looks up to. Recently, JW has spent time in the studio with Kenny Royster of Direct Image Nashville. Now, JW is currently working on releasing his first single, Hey Hey Mr. Bartender, to country radio as an independent singer/songwriter.
