About Kareem Shabazz

Kareem’s introduction into music came when an opportunity opened up. The lead singer of a Band called Nu Vizion, Claudia Fontaine, left and so he became their new lead singer. After a whirlwind introduction into the big time, the Band split up. So when the opportunity arose for Kareem to record a dance track in Italy he grabbed it with both hands.

Kareem ended up going back and forth to Italy for many years working with Airplane Records. It was there that he formed a partnership with Danny ‘Double Dee’ Losito of ‘Found Love’ house anthem fame, which continues to this day.

Whilst visiting his mother in Jamaica Kareem met up with a good friend Leggo at his studio in Orange Street, Kingston and ended up staying for three months and recording an album. Kareem was honoured to record with some of the cream of reggae musicians and as he didn’t have any links in UK reggae music, the album ended up being left in a drawer and he returned to Europe.

Upon Kareem’s return to Europe he went on to write for Purple Music, Groove Culture (formerly Groove Jet) and also resumed his role at Airplane Records. Kareem then realised how much he enjoyed reggae music so spoke to Dillie at Stingray Records and started to write ‘Born on the Street’, and continued to juggle genres.

Once the album was complete Kareem set up his band ‘Kareem Shabazz and the Ryddim Kings’ and went on a London pub crawl tour for a year, culminating in headlining at the South End Green Festival in Hampstead.

2018 has also seen Kareem write an album for Danny ‘Double Dee’ Losito called ‘De Ja Vu’ which was released on 23rd March 2018 on Airplane Records.

Kareem started 2019 with an underground dance track ‘Going All the Way’ via Groove Culture Label based in Italy. Kareem continued to write and perform with Groove Culture this year with the latest track being released at the end June 2019 ‘It’s Over Now’ (White Soul Project Remix) and sees Kareem working with renowned producer Reverendos of Soul.

Kareem also co wrote “Rain” Feat Danny Losito a track by Matteo Bruscagin, Angelmoon, Gianni Visnadi 2020
As well as dance favourite “Everything” with DJ Meme from Rio de Janeiro also feat Danny Losito 2021

As well as working with Danny Losito and Gian Luca Mosole on their next project Kaigo 3,
