Back to Florida!

So happy to be Busy Performing!

Greetings!
Hope this finds you all well. We were fortunate enough to be able to dodge the cold and covid restrictions in Michigan and head south to perform. We proceed very carefully and stayed masked as much as possible!

In and out of lock down these past few months of 2020, I was able to gather my players together, rehearse and record, distanced. The new release is called "Terry Got a Pitbull", a fun story about my time as a landlady and the drama that resulted back in those days!

The song began as lyrics on a hip hop beat. I put it aside for years until I found music (on (expired link)) written by a guy in Maine, Reggie B. He liked my lyrics and melodic idea. He already had a killer recording but I chose to recreate it with my band, "live". I overdubbed some parts, keyboard and guitar solos, my sax lines, back vocals, and mixed it down. If there was ever a good time to enjoy recorded music, it is now! I'm waiting for the day we can do more "live" band shows, especially up north. Until then, please do listen and share! Do check other digital outlets plus my site (expired link) for more.

Since my last post there have been many challenges to adapt and navigate this new environment. There has been less or no work for many but the bills don't stop. Some of us had to improvise with different forms of work. Still when I do perform I continue to be conscious of distancing and wearing a mask. I hope you are doing the same. The sooner we get together (at a distance!) on this, the sooner we can get back to packed shows as we know and enjoy. Until then, we must have patience and understanding because that, I believe rises above all the chaos and unrest. Because of what I just stated I'm afraid I don't have much new music to share with you. It takes funding and it seems much of my music is fed by this civil unrest and uncertainty. I'm waiting to mix it with more happiness in my songs. But then again, Marvin wrote about quite well. I aspire to that. I appreciate the comments I've been getting and the support. I would be grateful. Don't ever forget the importance of music and entertainment especially in times like these. It's the escape many of us need. I hope everyone is staying safe! Lives have been lost, careers lost or put on hold, but we will survive this! Until then, I hope you can use this time to be thankful and enjoy the simpler things in life. I turn to music and I hope you you turn to mine when you do the same. My site has been updated at (expired link) too. Many shows were cancelled but once again, between my band and duo, I'm trying to keep it going. I wasn't quite ready to retire! I do enjoy my kayaking, rollerblading and biking time. Also trying to stay up on my graphics work when I can get it. See (expired link)

Like many of you our lives come to a standstill in order to save ourselves from this horrific virus that has already claimed too many lives, some friends acquaintances included. We had nearly completed a wonderful run playing nightclubs in Florida to great audiences. But now recorded music is the outlet while we all wait this out. After escaping the Detroit winter, my husband Larry and I toured Southwest Florida performing at various venues as a duo. Wish we could have brought the whole band! Soon after we vacationed in Virgin Islands- beautiful! AND.... I am the proud winner of the Detroit Music Award, Outstanding Urban Vocalist 2019! This is truly an honor.
