Minister (Dr.) Kay Morris
Kay Morris is a native of Jamaica and was raised by two Pentecostal Minister Parents. She was exposed to the two most important influences that have guided her life, spiritual faith and the message of music. It would come as little surprise that Kay began her singing career at the tender age of four! Kay has worked tremendously hard in order to explore and celebrate her musical and spiritual roots, which she has fully embraced from Canada, Africa, and Jamaica.
She is a multi-faceted persona, functioning in many capacities such as: a Minister at Light and Life Ministries, an Ambassador, an accomplished singer/song writer/arranger, Reggae Gospel Music Hall of Famer (inducted on November 28, 2010, in New York City), fashion designer, humanitarian, Benevolent Queen, and motivational speaker. This versatile multi-award winning internationally acclaimed reggae Gospel artiste is also the President of the Kay Morris Foundation (KMF) in Canada and Ghana West Africa respectively. Her humanitarian work takes her to many Nations on the Continent of Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and South America. Kay’s musical journey has allowed her to minister at conferences, music festivals, church conventions, music industry/artist showcases & many other venues. She has also ministered and has empowered women and youths in many conferences around the world.
The Electrifying Kay Morris takes over the stage and captivates her audiences, demonstrating her versatility & offering a fresh perspective in a variety of musical styles. Kay Morris’ music has allowed her to cross religious, cultural, and racial barriers around the world. She has been featured in several magazines/books (including the Stanford “Who is Who”). Her music has been featured in several TV sit-coms; and she has done numerous TV interviews. Spanning outward from Kay’s singing, like that of the growing branch from a thriving tree, is her advocacy work as a “humanitarian”. She is a blazing new trail being the Voice of the Voiceless for orphans & people living with HIV/AIDS and Malaria in Africa, the Caribbean, South America, and other parts of the world.
In 2003 Kay Morris music brought her to the shores of Mother-Land Africa; she was moved to see the plight of women affected and children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and returned to Canada with a passion to make a difference. She has used her music as a platform to raise awareness towards various advocacy causes; as well as, to raise funds in support of her humanitarian initiatives at home and abroad.
In August 2006 Kay Morris impacted Africa, after brokering a $1.5 million donation of ARVs meds on behalf of the Ghana Ministry of Health and the Ghana AIDS Commission. The Berekuso King and people, decided to honor her for her work in Ghana and enstalled her Queen Nana Oyi Sika I of the Royal House of Berekuso. In 2009 & 2013 the Aburi King invited her to join the parade of Kings and Queens of Africa in celebration of his 20th & 25th year anniversary. Queen Nana Sika was carried in a Palanquin as thousands of on-lookers lined the streets waving in celebration. In October 2012, Kay Morris through the Kay Morris Foundation have donated laptop/computers, multi-media equipments for the lab, library books, food, clothing to schools and orphanages in Africa and The Caribbean. She has also helped to raise thousands of dollars for disaster relief for Tsunami, Earthquake, and Typhoon victims.
Oct 2013, Kay received 5 Rhythm of Gospel Awards Nominations: International Artist of the Year, Alternative Christian Gospel CD, Special Event CD of the Year, Urban Contemporary Female Vocalist, Rhythm of Gospel Music Video of the Year. She also performed at the Dove Awards in Nashville, TN; Sept, 2013 Kay is the Prayze Factor Awards Season 3 Grand Finali 2nd Place overall winner & winner for Best Rhythm & Praise Solo Artist of the Year and Best Christian Alternative Solo Artist of the Year.
Aug 2013, Minister Kay was the guest speaker at the East African Gospel – “In Christ Alone Conference” held at the Pillar of Fire Church in Kampala, Uganda. During her visit, she empowered women and youths. Through her charity Kay Morris Foundation, she presented the God’s Glory Children Orphanage with food, clothing, books, and toys. She also shoot a music video with the orphans.
July 21, 2013 – Kay Morris was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Canadian Bible College & Seminary and the School of Bible Theology Seminary & University San Jacinto, California. In July, she also performed at the Rhythm of Gospel Media Awards Artist Showcase in Jacksonville, Florida July 27th.
March 31, 2013 (Easter Sunday) Kay launched her brand new 18 track CD Unconditional Love during a LIVE DVD recording to a packed audience in Toronto, Canada. Kay has worked with producers in Jamaica, Africa, Montreal, and Toronto to bring forth a well produced album that shows her versatility. She also collaborated with the God`s Glory Children Choir in Uganda (the children are all orphans). The official DVD for her hit single Letters of Love was also filmed and directed by Dan Adams in Atlanta, Georgia.
 January 2013, Kay performed at the Prayze Fest Gospel Hour Stellar Awards Exclusive Artist Showcase held in Nashville, Tennessee. This was her introduction to the US market as she represented the Caribbean reggae gospel genre very well on this platform and was well received by industry personnel’s. Kay Morris has made appearances with Heads of States, Kings & Queens, Politicians, Prime Ministers, and Celebrities such as: Hollywood Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, Gloria Vanderbilt, YNR Actress Tonya Lee Williams, WWE Wrestling Star - Trish Stratus, Dr. Rueben “Hurricane” Carter, Dr. Bobby Jones of BET, & Bishop Carlton Pearson. Kay has shared the stage with great artists in the secular and gospel arena and has opened for artists such as: Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Ce Ce Winans, Albertina Walker, Kurt Kerr, Hesekiah Walker, Alvin Slaughter, Percy Sledge. Kay also performed on the Dr. Bobby Jones International Gospel Artist & Industry Retreat held at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, her performance was aired on the Word Network.
