About kc88keys
My musical journey started at about the age of 10, when I started playing drums. From there I started learning bass guitar. I practiced and played to old school r&b, funk, jazz, and fusion. I started becoming very proficient in playing bass and this was noticed by a local keyboardist / singer who took me under his wing so to say, and started teaching me music theory and concepts. He also gave me experience in playing in local night clubs and jazz lounges with various musicians and singers covering a wide range of music. This was around the same time I met a local Dj and rap artist David Williams, aka c-solo. I started off recording bass lines for some of his productions, because he was a writer for a local record label called Jamm City Records. He was teaching me how to put music together using DAW’s and playing keyboards to work out musical ideas. This is when I really developed a desire in learning to play keyboards really well, and applying what knowledge I had in theory to assist with my progress in this. I also was developing a skill in composing music. To round out my skills, I attended and graduated from The Omega Recording School of Applied Arts and Sciences as a certified audio engineer. Over the years I have gained valuable experience playing and performing with many bands, vocalist, and instrumentalist in many types of venues. In my more recent years, I have been working as a composer, writer, and producer for various artists covering music in contemporary jazz, neo soul, and r&b music. In fact, me and the late David Williams mentioned earlier formed a writing and production team called The Funktastic Players which also was comprised of Marcus H MitchellSaxaphone of 24th Music of MHM Entertainment Group, and David Prince-Guitarist of Prince Entertainment LLC. We had the privilege of having our music reach the Top 100 charts on Smooth Jazz (expired link). I also have had the privilege to do writing and production with the truly gifted vocalist, writer, and producer Miracle Thomas. In summary, music has played a huge part in making me who I am now. I enjoy performing, writing and composing music that makes people reflect on positive things. Feel good! And enjoy what they hear!
