Are you longin' to be longin' to the Lord? that was the phrase that kept going through my mind, along with a little tune to go with it, back in 1995. It was the start of my songwriting journey. I built the rest of the song around that phrase and gave it the title: Longin' 2B Longin'. Many of the songs I write start out that way, with just a little bit, and I have to build around it. The Lord gave me a message back then and I still follow it today. He said "I have a lot of people writing songs that speak to Christians. I want you to write songs that speak to non-Christians." So, that is how this song was born. Someone told me that the song makes them feel like they are driving down the road with the wing blowing through their hair, so I added the sound of a car starting up at the beginning.
