Review - Keith Laird - Happiness
Good job on this one Keith! I give this song a 4.5 star review. I love the lyrics and the story telling. The arrangement is structured nicely making the song an enjoyable musical journey on my end as the listener. I also really enjoyed the instrumentation and the tone of your voice. If I had to pick something about the song to improve, it would be the volume level difference between the music and the vocal track. I would have like to hear the music a bit louder (not much) but a little or perhaps a bit of reverb could give the two a little more blending. Vocals seem almost too out front. But other than that, It sounds like you got the songwriting part of it down. MAKE MORE! Break a leg - Del Leon

Blues harp
Got a sound like Charlie McCoy on that harp, interesting lyrics, good question,I like the voice, but the rhymes just died not into songs with talking though, this is a really good idea for a song, but I feel this a seed needs to grow into a plant.i really like it but it really grab folks, you got something super here, but it ain’t there yet, could be like wonderful world but the talking is missing the point, happiness is a power which begs the question what’s it do,why is it a power what can it do for me,I’m not going to critique this anymore cause this great song isn’t finished.

Reminiscent of bob dylan
A nice sweet song based on an incident about John Lennon. Keith’s voice does remind me of a combo of bob Dylan and John Lennon. It’s a soft bluesy pop song , melancholy and bittersweet. I enjoyed it!

Well written song, with a nice mix. Harmonica adds a nice touch and the acoustic guitar comes across clean and clear thru the mix. Kind of a folk/Americana, sounding song that has a good message. Only thing I would change is to shorten song for radio, as most people these days seem to like shorter songs around 3 1/2 minutes in length. Keep up the good songwriting!

Happiness is a God given right
Happiness is a Power! Well that’s the understatement of the day! Loved the song and that harmonica throughout! I think you sing it well! Really liked your lyrics “Happiness is a god given right” My only critique would be in the balance of your track with having an increased vocal over the instruments! Maybe need to watch that! I understand that sound is not really our forte as we are musicians not sound engineers! Overall I really enjoyed the song! Best regards for the future!

Lovely and inspired thought! very laid back groove, nice harp running throughout with a very lennonesque feel and guitar track and the words so true if I may say so sung with a very Lennon type dry scouser lean to it,even without the accent, sort of telling the truth with a wry smile! Nice melodic bass too......regards ..... Paul

Beautiful Song.
Have you ever listened to an original tune and could guess, by the chord progressions, who wrote it or who inspired it? This is that tune. The song is a patchwork of John Lennon's most beautiful chords woven wonderfully together under a unique vocal delivery. You will know what I mean when you listen to it. Excellent musicianship. Mark my words, someone is going to hear this song and pay Keith a lot of money to sing it. Happiness is the power.

I really like your style. Your song gave me a feeling of realness. I also like the way that you broke the beat down in between verses. I never became bored or inpatient while listening. I write hip hop music and I can hear a ton of material in you song. It is a masterpiece in my eye. I hope that I find that happiness that you are promoting.

Good break into the meat of the song talking about enjoying what you got while you have it a good storying telling song. about happeniness, good cover for mr. Laird . Bass is cool and other instruments lend to a very good presentation of the tune, vocals are intertaining and strong and we don't know what coming or going rain or sunshine enjoy this John Lennin tune that lemenises about a lads youth .

This song is not what i would call a Blues song. Having said that, it is a good listening song more in the category of Americana or storytelling. I especially enjoyed the harmonica fills. They were awesome. Harmonica is a hard instrument to play and you have got it down. Harp is the sound that makes a blues song sometimes. Would like to hear more from this artist.

Very Pleasant
I very much like the tune. It kinda reminds me of Van Morrison's "Have I Told You Lately" even in terms of the vocals. In the mix I would bring the guitar up a bit and the vocal slightly as he is a slight bit distorted. The spoken-word is cool but it would have worked out better as a sung verse, it sort of takes away from the over-all mood of the tune, which us great. I would also bring out the bass a little bit more to compliment the guitar work. Nice job.

How miserable can one get?
Grim is the word. A sad reflection on a weirdo conception that, in so many words, states that being happy won't last so make the best of it. Whereas this might appear to be an illuminating enlightenment of monumental significance, similar to St Paul's experience on the road to Damascus, I suspect happiness is not really like a flower at all but what's my opinion worth? Not a sausage. Having said all that, I really like Keith Laird. He is a fair-dinkum, straight-up, good-on-yer bloke. If he ever finds the right song and a decent recording studio, he could be in with a chance, maybe.
