About Lawrence Calvin

Since early childhood at the age of 5, and continuing throughout my adult life. I have been singing and performing selections from gospel, jazz, soul, doo wop, to rhythm & blues. During my teenage years of the 60's, I was a contributing member of various singing groups. Studied music and vocally trained under the direction of DDS Chorus Director Ms. Jacquelyn Cossack in Chicago.
 
Additionally studied under Chicago's iconic Funk, Soul, Rhythm & Blues Master and Recording Artist, Frederick Doug Shorts. During my mid 20's I began to transition deeper into jazz. Having studied under Chicago's iconic Jazz Master and Recording Artist, Luba Rashiek.
 
Presently I entertain as a stand alone vocalist, performing a show entitled "Tribute To Legends".  It is a performance in recognition of and in tribute to the artistry of legends both past and living.   I have enjoyed  a life long love and passion for a variety of music genres.

A dedicated life long fan of the Legendary Sam Cooke & other important vocalist.  I consider myself Old School, striving to bring warmth, sincerity and excitement throughout my performance.  A good rule of thumb is.... Be Soulful. Grooving and exhilarating.
