LEADEN FUMES are a doom-metal band toying with psychedelic and progressive elements. The Sludgelord writes that the "vocals have Pentagram feels", while The Obelisk states that “there’s something ancient and primal about Leaden Fumes‘ approach, speaking to the roots of doom metal as grown out from the NWOBHM, but at no point are they retro in style and their material veers further into extremes as the record plays out.”

LEADEN FUMES were born out of Phased - the cult stoner/doom band which Christian Sigdell led through a multitude of line-ups for close to 20 years. Most likely Phased were Switzerland's first stoner band - surely the were the only Swiss band to sign to Elektrohasch. Phased released four acclaimed albums and played festivals like Doom Shall Rise, Stoned From The Underground, Up In Smoke, and Rock Altitude, while supporting bands such as Neurosis, Mastodon, High On Fire, Spirit Caravan, and Orange Goblin.

With LEADEN FUMES, two members of Phased reconvene to wreak fresh havoc. While Christian switched to bass to give the band an ultra low-end spark, Florian Schönmann is now alone responsible for the licks that drew blood. The line-up is completed by drummer Jonathan Schmidli, who also plays in Echolot. The new acclaimed album is titled "Abandon Ship" and features seven songs that range from slow doom to bits of math-rock and black-metal. “Abandon Ship” is out on (expired link). and available on vinyl and CD as well as digitally.
