Song Reviews

Good Solid song

I Quite like this song, the panned guitar sounds good and I like the solos, the change in the song half way through is also good, the vocals are sung well, the song sounds a bit like the Eagles. The only thing wrong in my opinion is the song is a bit too long, but that might suite this style of music, overall I think this is a good solid song, well done and keep it up.

My Tale

Thanks for sharing your track with me and looking for some feedback on Captain's Tale. I am really digging the vibe of this track. It has that beach/reggae-ish groove to it(which I enjoy). This probably would sound great if done acoustic. Wish I could download this to put on a chill Playlist. Keep up the good work.

Review of Captain´s Tale

I dont know anything about reagge music, is one of the genre of music i dont listen to, do not sound to rock for me until a few time and then back to reagge, maybe you would use the tag reagge before rock in your song. It sounds well produced but not my style.

Captain's Tale

Nice sounding recording. The song is somewhat reminds me of an old police song. The guitar solo is a bit long for this song. Watch the vocals. They go a bit flat here and there. However, overall nicely done. Try removing a bit of the roving guitar. just a bit too much. As a result, the song goes on a bit to long.

Hear a Tale with the 'Captain"

Neat intro, reggae-type guitars, crisp vocals, fitting lead, cool organ, very cool drums. Needs more bass present in the mix. Gives me a Dire Straits vibe. I like it a lot--just a bit too long if you wish radio play. This "extended" version would be perfect for a gig! Yes, jam it out!

Nice Guitar-solo

I really like the guitar solos in this song, makes me wanna go shopping or something. Very happy tune otherwise, but the guitar is the main attraction in this song. Good but nothing that hits me.

ROCKAE

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS SONG IS THAT I'D LIKE TO DANCE TO IT BECAUSE IT HAS SOME INTERESTING RHYTHM QUALITIES AND ITS VERY LONG. AS FAR AS COMMERCIAL VIABILITY ITS NOT REALLY STRONG IN MY ESTIMATION FOR EXACTLY THE SAME REASON..ITS LENGTH. TO ME THERE ARE TWO SONGS HERE IT SEEMS. THE LEAD GUITAR SHOULD STAND OUT MORE IN TERMS OF FINDING SOME LESS MAIN STREAM LICKS TO SET THE SONG ITSELF APART. THE VOCALS ARE NOT NOTABLE BUT ARE MELODICALLY WELL EXECUTED. THE PRODUCTION QUALITIES ARE ACCEPTABLE BUT I WOULD HAVE LIKE TO HEAR SOME EXPERIMENTATION WITH HARMONIES ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE TUNE. I CAN'T GIVE THIS "ROCK" SONG A HIGH RATING BECAUSE REALLY....ITS BASE IS REGGAE. VERY DANCEABLE MUSIC.......GREAT FOR THIS BAND AT GIGS AND A GOOD JAM TUNE FOR THE BAND.

Captains Tale

This reminds of something the Police would do. And I did like the Police, I particularly like the verse in this song, it kinds of reminds of the 80's.

The Captain dances reggae offshore

Good and fresh song with a reggae rhythm beginning where accompaniment guitars provide excellent space environment to manage the stereo field of rhythmic way, the voice flows subtle and uncomplicated, then switch to a soft rock that ends Latin cadence of the first to reach the climax of the song, re exhibition unfolds in the same direction to reach a final apparent that exploits to expose the true potential of the song and its members, with a happy ending that aims to last forever with fade out.

Soothing song for a hot summer day!

First thing i noticed was the nice recording sound and the (Sublime) reggae style of music for this song witch i like so right off the bat it got me curious to see what was gonna come next since the song length was over eight minutes. the song goes on with well executed guitar solos one after another with some nice repetitive catchy refrain until the very end. All things considered the song could of ended long ago but in the end it ain't bad that it didn't, nice soothing song for a hot summer day with a little drink on the side but just not radio friendly because of the length of it....good job!

Captains Tale

Definite jam band material. I bet this goes over good at festivals and whatnot...The reggae style seems more disjointed in the first half of the song with that lonely rhythm guitar, and even the singer seems to be struggling...even though he has a great voice...some tasty hot licks on the guitar solo and after that it settles into a thicker more Grateful Dead style groove with the repeating hook that will get people dancing. Overall another good job.

thoughts

wow im really digging this. the upbeat sound has a real happy go lucky type feel. its got a touch of marley, sublime and opm but still maintains its own unique sound. I like the structure and the lyrics. The instruments played off the vocals and vice versa very well. Just really reminds me of back in the day when music was actually good haha. keep up the good work!

Great Song

Well, boys...I just couldn't get enough of this tune after it got going and going. I couldn't also wait to see what the 'bridge' was gonna do and go to as the guitar solo came in. I want to say that I am sure glad it wasn't a 'short' one. You guys did it good by going the extra rounds of 4 and kept it going. My hats' off to who ever thought of it. The song is a 'nice ride' all the way thru. One of the best 'reggae' songs on N1M...in my opinion. Way ta go 'Spike' the bass was in the pocket and the drums in the groove....with the guitar solo on top of the cake. Excellent song :) Good Luck in your venture!

"Captain's Tale" by Leaf Jumpers

At the first notes of this song, i felt i was transported back in time to some old European shack... the reggae/ska verses unexpected chorus, the guitars solos, the changes, bridges... Creativity at its best !! A song to enjoy with headphones, eyes closed... and let it take you were you supposed to be !!

Great Job!!

Now this is a great song! From the moment it starts the toes are tapping along with a strong melody and great music to match...vocals are perfect enough emotion, affliction and tone is great...love the guitar solo just before half way fits perfectly with the rest of the song...great job all round..Be Proud!!

Captains Tale

Nice piece of work. Flows nicely and easy to listen to. A little long for airplay after about the five minute mark your kind of wondering when its going to end. All in all its a well developed song
