About Lil Jack
Artist ‘Lil Jack’ was born and raised in the Park Heights area of Baltimore, MD. His father, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, came to the states after joining the (expired link). Army in hopes of establishing a better life. His father then became a successful local Dj in the genres of Soca, Calypso, Reggae, etc. During a party that his father was dj-ing, he met a beautiful woman with whom he has been with for 40 years and counting, which is ‘Lil Jack’s’ mother, a native of Baltimore, MD. With the love of music always in the household, from his father always spinning to his mother loving to party, musical influences were always around Jack. Relating to favorite artist Nas, or riding around to other favorite artists such as Capone & Noreaga, Curtis Mayfield, Lauryn Hill, and Pastor Troy, Jack knew that he could tell his story and have the same affect on others that his favorite artists had on him growing up.
‘Lil Jack’ has been interested in music for as long as he can remember. Unsure of his talent, he would write his rhymes in the class room or at the dining room table and then ball up his papers so nobody could read them. One day during lunch in middle school, he heard a group of guys beating on the table and rapping. With his competitive nature, he challenged the group and left them speechless, and has been rapping ever since. Creating a studio in his own basement, he learned how to make beats and record himself as well. Unfortunately, ‘Lil Jack’ got “caught up in the streets” and veered away from music for awhile. It was not until he was released from prison after several years, that he decided to slowly turn his focus to music where he could express his stories of fast money, sex, drugs, violence, incarceration, and other experiences that had become a way of everyday life for him.
Starting his official career as an artist, ‘Lil Jack’ jumped on the local music scene in late 2012 with the raw “F#@% These Niggas” video under his own indie label “BlackSkully Ent." Making his mark by dropping video after video after video, he created a large local fan base, releasing over 20 videos and counting. ‘Lil Jack’ has opened up for artists Lil Wayne, BG, and Styles P, and has done songs with artists Yo Gotti and Fat Trel. Taking pride in the fact that 100% of his music comes from his real life experiences, he has become the fan favorite of male rappers in his city by speaking on relatable subjects and touching all bases from the struggle to the after party. ‘Lil Jack’ has proven to be very versatile from dropping trap hits like “500 Grams” to lyrical freestyles such as “Warning Shots (parts 1 & 2)” to melodic feel good hits like “More Than Friends” and “Miss World”. Leaving his fans repeating quotable bars like “…if it ain’t about money…what’s there to argue ‘bout...’, he tends to hook his listeners in with the truth of his words and the construction of his word play. ‘Lil Jack’ is currently working on his first solo project titled “Law & Order” due to be released in 2014. Producing nothing but great quality music with an abundance of visuals and local press coverage, ‘Lil Jack’ is well on his way to a successful career!
