About LT

Raised in east London, LT is a MC/Songwriter and poet who is destined to make an impact on your psyche. Her ability to make you think through entertainment and her stage presence is something that earns her supporters everywhere she performs. Even people who have not heard of grime or are not fans of grime music take a shine to her which LT believe is what music is all about.

She started rapping and performing at the age of 11 as a member of Ladders young performers and writer club which helped her grow in confidence being in front of a large crowd. At the age of 19 she released her mix tape entitled Slap Yourself Volume 1 which grabbed the attention of Pharon Kastro and Jazz Pam Dreamcha; members of the well-known Congolese rap group Kmelia Mokonzi. LT joined their group as the first female rapper and they released their singles ‘Bilokos’ and ‘2foix te’ which became very successful in the Democratic republic of Congo. In 2014 Kmelia Mokonzi played a massive tour in Kinshasa the Capital City of DR Congo ‘It was weird from an unknown MC in London to people knowing who I was and being mobbed by fans’. The group won the Bilily award for best video for ‘Bilokos’ in July 2015.

Although this new found lifestyle may have seemed all that she had hoped for something was brewing inside of LT “My whole life changed once I woke up from the deep sleep and began to unfold the reality of this thing we call life and earth we call home. I felt somewhat like Neo from the matrix, born again or going through some type of metamorphosis”

This new insight had a major impact on LT and drastically changed her musical focus.
“I still write about everything. I still want to be able to provide the soundtrack to people’s lives, make them laugh, cry and also have a good time doing it. However I talk about things from a totally different narrative”

Many have done so before and continue to do so. They are referred to as ‘conscious’ rappers. However what sets LT apart is the actual sound of her music. It is not straight hip hop ‘I can write just about to every genre of music, they come to me at random times. What is it that makes a song an LT song? I understand the importance of a catchy chorus, most people don’t remember verses.”

One thing is guaranteed with LT. You will learn to think and learn to see. To see what? You may ask “The truths. What has always been in front of you but you were unequipped to decode”
