Lua's 1990 encounter with Islam's devotional music changed her musical and spiritual trajectory. As a student of the Mevlevi Sufi tradition from Turkey, Lua steeped herself in herself in Middle Eastern classical and folk music and went on to found Beloved world music ensemble (1998) with guitarist David Seidel, performing traditional and original settings of the poems and prayers of Sufi mystics.... read more
