About Mailman
Singer-songwriter and producer Jamie Stanley (aka: Stan) has been writing, recording and performing his music for as long as he can remember.
Which, on a good day, is about a week.
His acoustic open mic beginnings at age 18 quickly led to collaborations with friends and to his first band project Emporia, which allowed him to explore and develop his song writing abilities. He later went on to study music production with a view to figuring out how to get the sonic ideas in his head out into the real world. Whilst there, he formed and experimented in the studio with his second band Origins of Oceania.
Since electing to go it alone under the name Mailman, Stan has earned a reputation as an artist with a social conscience, not afraid to tackle the big subjects whilst embracing the power of music to make a positive difference to people's lives. With a combination of social awareness, powerful song-writing and intricate production he seeks to deliver an inspired and inspiring, mutually uplifting musical experience.
On 9th November 2011 he was lucky enough to share a stage with Billy Bragg, Chumbawumba, Peggy Seeger, Steve Knightly and Leon Rossiter at Occupy London where he performed his song Fear of Foxes to the 600+ crowd gathered on the steps of St. Pauls. In December the same year, the studio version of the song appeared on the début Mailman EP 'Long Walk Home' , released independently on iTunes and most other online stores. The 2nd EP 'The Karma Sessions: Volume 1' came out in February 2012 and is available exclusively on Bandcamp, as is the 2015 follow up 'Vol. 2'.
After many months in development, the début album 'No News Is Good News' was finally released on 07/07/14 on SJE Records. The follow up is in production and expected in 2017.
Stan continues to perform his intimate solo acoustic show around the south of England and anywhere else that will have him. A full band metamorphosis is likely. Watch this space...
